I just booked reservations (2) for Lyria 9270 from Lausanne to Dijon in September. We were assigned side-by-side seats, but on the upper level of the carriage. Also, there are better seats available in other cars with club seating with a table. We are not happy with the seat assignment since we are both over 75 and don’t want to carry luggage up and down the steps in the carriage. Eurail needs to step up their game and allow either active seat selection or ask for seat preferences. I’m trying to contact them now to see if the seats can be changed. Any advice?

Book by phone with SNCF who might be able to assign seats to your preference. (also possible at French ticket offices)
It’s probably worth pointing out that passholder reservations on TGV Lyria are ridiculously high, particularly in 1st class and often regular tickets are not much more.
