I just noticed our seat reservation AMS-Zurich (July 21) got canceled and refunded (night jet) this was the start of our holiday, so the rest of our two week journey kind of depends on it. Any advice how to make sure we will get there in time (hopefully with night jet couchet).

In addition, this train is still running and bookable, according to nightjet.com.

Contact the place where you booked and ask them what happened. If this train is still running, they are obliged to offer replacement accommodation in it without extra costs. If you booked via ÖBB or on nightjet.com, then call ÖBB ASAP: +43 5 1717.

Hello @CorinevdS

On what time do you arrive in Amsterdam? Do you stay in Zurich on July 22 or do you continue to another destination? You must expect such problems when you travel by train in Europe.

Was this reservation refunded without your request? That is not allowed without offering the choice of what you want to do. Where did you book?

To be precise, it says the booking failed and they refunded it. It doesnt say why it failed. After I paid it was already listed in my interrail app as my trip, so I thought everything was settled. Maybe it’s my own fault, but they didn’t give any notice to me. I booked through the interrail app, while being on the phone with the Dutch contact service. She told me this trip was still available, so that’s why we started our trip there. We travel with two small children, so the nightjet would be ideal, in a couchette. Now we probably have to shift to a regular seat or a day train.

OK, that helps. The best place to book this train is tickets.oebb.at: add the Interrail/Eurail discount and do NOT check "Seat reservation only”. Booking via the Interrail website (which is what the app often forwards to) is never recommended.

In the meantime, there are not enough couchettes available anymore in the night train, neither for Zurich, nor for Basel (where part of the train ends), assuming you need 4. Someone might have booked just before you did, so that may be why the booking failed in the end.

Seats are still available on the night train, but I don't recommend them.
