We are traveling from Rome to Florence and then Florence to Milan. What is the best way to make reservations on the high speed trains?

If you go with a Railpass like Interrail / Eurail I recommend to use the Service of oebb.at as they charge no service fee :)
Just add for each traveler the discount Interrail / Eurail and then click on Single Daytickets and please NOT the Seat only option when reserveing trains in Italy via oebb.at :)
If you just have these 2 Train Journey´s i would search for cheap advance fares in on trenitalia website or on the Italo Website both companies offer Highspeedservices across Italy
