Hi there!

Does anyone have experience with how full these routes are (even if not the exact time)?

  • Amsterdam to Hamburg | ICE 208 RUEGEN | Amsterdam Centraal (Netherlands) > OSNABRUECK HBF (Germany) > HAMBURG-HARBURG (Germany) | 5:59AM-11AM | 1 change (32 min)
  • Berlin to Krakow | IC 8304 MATEJKO | BERLIN-LICHTENBERG (Germany) > KOSTRZYN (Poland) > KRAKOW GLOWNY (Poland) | 6:38AM-3:11PM | 1 change (10 min)
  • Krakow to Prague | KRAKOW GLOWNY (Poland) > PRAGUE HLAVNI NADRAZI (Czech Republic) | 11:02AM-5:36PM | Direct (no changes)
  • Prague to Vienna | PRAGUE HLAVNI NADRAZI (Czech Republic) > WIEN HBF (Austria) | 6:44AM-10:49AM | Direct (no changes)
  • Vienna to Budapest | WIEN HBF (Austria) to BUDAPEST-KELENFOELD (Hungary) | 6:40AM-9:02AM | Direct (no changes)

I’ve booked all mandatory reservations. Now just trying to work out which others to book. These services are all marked with reservation recommended but not required. I’m travelling solo with a small backpack and I don’t mind not having a seat as long as I’m able to board the train. I heard that those without reservations may be asked to leave if the train is over capacity by 150% so just wondering if you could share your experience or recommendation with me!

Many thanks in advance!

When will you be travelling?

What time of year?

Right now, not a problem. In the middle of summer, the trains to and from Prague might be busy, although you have very early trains which won’t be as popular.

It helps to give us the whole route, so we know where you are changing trains.

I never saw anyone be asked to leave any train over the summer due to overcrowding and some were seriously overcrowded.

all of them trains could be busy if you put them trains into DB navigator you might get a prediction of how busy especially if on a weekend.

also if you can book them through ÖBB tickets app (registr an account and add that you have an interrail) and you can book each train for €3 each

It did happen in some cases, although not as often as in the summer of 2023.
