Hello we have now experienced twice not being able to order seat tickets. On monday 24th we are going from Budapest to Zagreb, but can’t order a seat ticket without paying for a regular ticket as well. On tuesday 25th we Will then go from Zagreb to Split with the only Daily departure, where a seat ticket is required. However, we cannot understand how to order that seat ticket, and we are nervous that the train will be fully booked when we arrive in Zagreb to buy the tickets physically at the train station. Can someone please help us?:)))

Reservations Budapest-Zagreb can be booked on tickets.oebb.at for €3. They're optional.

Reservations Zagreb-Split (mandatory) can only be booked at a Croatian ticket office. You can see the seat availability online though and currently, occupation on 25/4 is only about 25%.

You could try in Koprivnica, the first station in Croatia, where the direct train Budapest-Zagreb has a stop of 18 minutes. Not sure if the ticket office will be open though.
