Next July i'm going to do an Interrail trip in Germany with my friends, everyone bought their own individual pass but when we book reservation for a train at same time the system that assigns seats far from each other.

Is there a way to have near seats?

I also view that in the home page of my presonal interrail account there is the option to add people at interrail journey, but what exactly is this function for? does it allow me to book seats close together?

I hope someone can answer me, if so thank you very much

If you want to be seated next to each other, then book all persons in one transaction. You can do that via Interrail, but you'll be paying a lot more there.

For Germany, you can book on bahn.com (€5.20 per journey including all trains, €6.50 in 1st class) or on tickets.oebb.at (€3 per person and train). For comparison: Interrail charge €8 per person and train.
