seat reservation

Hello, me and my friend are going on interrail in about a week!

We kind of „overslept“ booking our seat reservations and just started to book them today.

Unfortunately we now have a problem, because the seats of every train going from london to paris on the 14th August are reserved. We then tried to book them over the eurostars website, but the Website does not find any train going from london to paris. Online you can see that the website eurostars is for trains inbetween the United Kingdom, Belgium, France,…

we also tried booking from an extern website, but there you can only buy tickets to get seat reservations and those are very expensive.

 

we are now desperate and unsure what to do.

please help us, thank you in advance!

These trains have a quota for Interrail reservations, so even if seats are available to buy, they might not be available for you. However, I see reservations available on the 18:01 train from London. Is that any good for you?

Worth knowing that you can change your time for free up to 7 days before departure, and there is often availability closer to the time. (Look at tomorrow, for example.)

so does that mean if i book seats for exampel the 18:01 train i could change it to an earlier one?

Its a little bit tricky, the 18:01 train, because our hostel has a check in time which ends very close to the time we would arrive. So if the train is a little bit delayed than theres a possibility for us to not make it!

I also just looked for the 18:01 train and if my friend wants to book it, it works, but with my pass i cant book it… The only differences between our passed are, that i have won mine and she buyed hers.

Yes. The Eurostar reservations can be changed. It’s free until 7 days before departure.

So put your booking reference into the Eurostar website, and keep checking ‘Change Journey’ in ‘Manage Booking’. You might be able to change to an earlier time.

There are pass holder seats available in that train. If you don't see them (what do you see? Do you have a screenshot?), then contact customer service:

You should also be able to book that train.

​@Eurail Community Moderator shouldn't pass holder availability for regular passes and for DiscoverEU be the same?

Unfortunately for you, a Friday departure from London in the middle of Summer is probably one of the busiest times to travel, so availability will be low, fares will be high and passholder supplements will be in very high demand.

While Eurostar is the most popular or common route between the UK and France, Belgium & Netherlands it’s not the only one.

If you *must* travel between the two cities on that day, then you can look at the ferry options that are available as well.  None of them are as smooth as getting on a train in St Pancras and getting off in Gare du Nord, but they are valid options.

Alternatively, do you have any option to depart a day earlier or a day later?
