Seat reservation: Can I change my ID number later?

Hi all, I want to go to UK this year. As Eurostar trains are quickly sold out, I would like to make seat reservations now. Unfortunately, my passport will soon expire and I will be issued a new one. For the seat reservations, however, I need to provide my passport number. I only have my old passport number, but not the new one yet. Does anyone have experience with this? Can I change my passport number for the reservation later? Will it be sufficient to enter my current national ID number? Or do I have to wait until I receive my new passport number?

For travel to the UK you need a passport, a national ID card is not sufficient.

You can however indeed change the passport information later, if I recall correctly, directly on the Eurostar website.
