Seat Reservation Does Not Match Train Ticket

Hi Everyone,

Feeling a bit apprehensive!

I booked a2 x 1st class seat reservations on a 17:09 Paris Montparnasse1 et 2 (TGV INOUI 8477) to Bordeaux departing at 17:09 and arriving at 19:17. I booked this via the Interrail EU website using the seat reservation tab.

Last evening I went into my App to check all the times of the train tickets and noticed the ticket was issued for a train departing at 17:16 and arriving at 20:14.

I was able to manually enter the 17:09 Paris Montparnasse1 et 2 (TGV INOUI 8477) to Bordeaux departing at 17:09 that fits with the seat reservation and generate a ticket.

However I am now wondering which is the correct train time and is there a train departing Paris Montparnasse at 17:09 and arriving into Bordeaux at 19:17.

Also if you have made seat reservations on the website why aren’t these copied into the ticket issued?

Appreciate your help as this is one of several trips where the same thing has occurred.

I'm using SNCF Connect. I think there's some time zone bug going on here.

I'm seeing a departure time of 1709 for TGV8477.

What date?

It's possible the train is just retimed by a few minutes. Is the train number the same?

To your second question, the ticket (your pass) and the reservation are separate. They're not linked in any way.

Apologies the date is Sunday 27th of July.

We are on a tight schedule so trying to ensure we are all booked in and have the necessary seat reservations.

I just went into search for the original train number on the train ticket (not the seat reservation) and I had deleted it and kept the manual entry.

So I just went in to do a search again from Paris Montparnasse to Bordeaux and what came up but the 17:09-19:17 train???? So I have selected this now.

I did notice though that the TGV train reference has changed from the original TGV INOUI 8477 to TGV INOUI 8517. I presume this has no issue for the seat reservation?

It may be a dumb question but this still brings up the question about how the seat reservation and train are tied together. What if I had to take a later train does it mean in this case that the original seat reservation I made is no longer valid?

I'm not sure what you mean here? If you have a seat reservation, then of course it's only for that train. If you want to travel on a different train, you need to modify your reservation.

That train departing at 1709 is made of two separate units connected together - TGV8477 and TGV8517. I'm not sure what you have a reservation for, if it's departing at a different time and taking an hour longer. Is it one of these train numbers on your reservation?

Hi There,

Can I ask which website you are using to confirm the train departure at 17:09.

I was just on the SNCF website and it shows TGV8477 departing at 16:09 on the 27th of July from Montparnasse to Bordeaux.

I booked the 2 x seat reservations on the TGV Inoui website for the 17:09 service and have received a booking number and an e-ticket reference. This booking references the train as TGV8477.

Here are the actual seat reservations.

Yeah maybe it is a time bug but it is completely throwing me off in terms of ensuring we have the right seat reservation and train match.

OK, so it’s clear that you have tickets for train 8477 leaving at 1709.

I’m not sure where you’ve found a 1716 departure time?

Also, you booked these tickets on the SNCF website? Then they’re full tickets, not Interrail reservations. SNCF doesn’t sell Interrail reservations on its own site.

The 17:09 did not come up on the Eurail my trip page when I checked it today.

Later when I refreshed the app I noticed that 17:09 train appeared so I was able to select this.

I discovered that the seats were booked through Eurail seat reservations. When I went onto the SNCF page it gave me a redirect to another web page where I was able to find the seat reservation which is where I took the above image from.

The rail planner's timetable is not always properly up to date, so as long as your reservation is okay (you can import them in the "TGV Pro" app) you shouldn't worry - in the end adding the journey manually is also possible.

I discovered that the seats were booked through Eurail seat reservations.

Actually, the best website to book TGV reservations is currently www.raileurope.com. Eurail charge extra (€2 per person and train) and you can't indicate any seat preference.
