I am trying to book two seats on the train from Zürich HB - Milano central on 25 July 2025.
I have tried ÖBB, SBB and Trenitalia but with no luck. On the ÖBB ticket site (which is the most used for this as I understand) it says “tickets not available” for all departures on that specific route.
Have they completely stopped selling seat reservations for this route? And in that case, do you have any recommendations on how to go about it?

The direct ECs cost 13€.
On ÖBB you must add Interrail in the discount and then select one-way tickets. Rail Europe works well too: 2€ extra for seat selection.
Reservation-free alternative: take any train to Lugano and change there to the hourly RE80. Timetables are altered this summer due to engineering works though.
