I want to make a seat reservation for the train from milan to ventimiglia. I can do this through the interrail page, but I would like to choose the seats so that I am on the right (coastal) side. This is not possible with interrail. Via OBB I can find the train (one way & discount interrail) but there it says “no ticket available”, while I clicked “only seat reservation”.
How/where can I make a seat reservation for this train?

Use www.raileurope.com and indicate that you have a railpass. You can select your seats from a seat map.

When the ÖBB website says "Ticket not available”, then seats might not be available anymore, or not yet, or you used "Seat reservation only”, which does not work for pass reservations in Italy.
You can select seats on raileurope.com, but there's no way of knowing in which direction the carriage will run.
Which train? In the scenic section between Genova - Ventimiglia more than half of the trains are regional with no reservations, There are about 6 Inter City a day that require reservations.
