Hi,

I recently travelled from Copenhagen to Hamburg and back with Interrail global pass and for both of the journeys a substitute train was used so the seat reservations couldn't be used. The conductor on the train told us to forget the seat reservations, just find a seat and get a refund afterwards. The seat reservations were bought from DSB (Cph-Hamburg) and DB (Hamburg-Cph). I don't seem to be able to find instructions on how to claim back the seat reservation costs from either of the companys. Can anyone guide me on where and how to do that please? We travelled as a family of 4, can I do that for all of us on the same form since the reservations were bought together? Appreciate any help!

You can try asking a refund here (there are some links below for a web form).

https://www.dsb.dk/kundeservice/sporgsmal-og-svar/kan-jeg-refundere-en-pladsbillet/

You might want to use deepl to translate the webpage, couldn’t find the right webpage in English ;)

Thanks a lot @BrendanDB, I managed to fill out the form, let's see if they'll respond and be willing to refund. Any ideas on how to handle the same issue with DB (the return journey was bought from them)?

A comprehensive list is found here:

https://www.bahn.com/en/booking-information/exchanges-refunds

But usually they don't refund seat reservations, unless it's entirely their fault. I'm not sure of how they deal with your case. But there's no harm in trying ofc :)
