Seat reservations- difference between app and web

I want to go from Munich to Budapest in a week and the app states that a seat reservation is required, on the other hand the official website says that a seat reservation is not necessary. Which information is correct?

This is a bug in the app. The train requires seat reservation only if you travel within Hungary (i.e. you don't cross the border), so if you go from Munich to Budapest, you don't need to buy a seat reservation. It's still advised to do so, as the train gets full quickly. It's only 3 eur at the oebb website.

A quick check of both the IR web search and OBB shows no requirement for a reservation on this route.

DAY time_ as such NOT mandatory-but for now this summer highly advisable.

The one and only OvernIGHT-MUST do-also for the seats, via oebb.at
