Seat reservations in Sicily

I’m planning to travel to Sicily from Belgium by train in a few weeks. I was able to book seat reservations from Brussels to Messina using the Interrail web planner. However, I need to get from Messina to Palermo, and I can’t find an available ticket online, even on the ÖBB website, as recommended by other Interrail users.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? Do you know the best way to book this ticket?

Tickets can be bought on trenitalia.com.

If you mean reservations instead of tickets, then the only trains for which reservations are available are the intercity trains (day and night) from/to Rome and Milan.

Please mention route, date and departure time of the train(s) you want to book.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I was referring to booking a seat reservation. I'm planning to travel from Messina to Palermo on the morning of April 27th.

The Interrail web planner shows an Intercity train at 5:55 AM, but since I can't find it on trenitalia.com, I assume it doesn't actually run. As an alternative, I'm considering the regional train on the same route at 7:35 AM. Do I need to book a seat reservation for that regional train?

Regional trains can not be reserved.
