I am struggling to reserve seats for travel from Paris to Reims on 2 July. The train appears in the timetable, but I am unable to make a reservation. Can anyone advise me on how to reserve seats, please? Would it be possible to reserve seats via my local ticket office (ScotRail)?

If you plan to take the TGV your best option for booking seat reservations onlisne is raileurope.com. Just click add rail pass and select interrail pass when searchin for the train connection. If select € for the currency there is no booking fee added to the cost of the reservation.

Reservation cost for TGVs in france are 10/20€ depending on how booked the train already is.

No Idea what your local ticket office is able to book.

But at the moment you are still to early for reserving the train

There’s no way your local ticket office will be able to do it. (They can give you a free reservation on your train down to London though).

As above, Rail Europe is usually the best place to make Eurostar and TGV reservations.

For all other reservations, check Seat61’s recommendations here: https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

Thank you very much. I have the trip to London reserved and have also reserved London to Paris, but I’m struggling to reserve Paris to Reims. It looks like I may be too early to book. However, the train timetable is already available, which is puzzling, as I would have assumed that if the timetable is ready, reservations would be available as well. Do you have any idea when I might be able to make the reservation?

TGV reservations for that date will open on 28/1. Just wait, it is not possible yet.

SNCF publish here when reservations will open:
https://www.sncf-connect.com/aide/l-ouverture-des-ventes

Please note that reservations from 4/7 will only open on 11/3.

The best place to book a TGV is raileurope.com, as already mentioned. On that website, always change currency to euro to avoid their 5% mark-up for other currencies.

Ah now i see the exact dates are listed at the bottom of the page (so 28/1 and not 4 months in advance)

No, the two things aren’t equal. Train timetables are published much further in advance. That doesn’t mean that they’re open for reservation yet.
