Hello,

I have a very imortant question. Me and my friend want to take trains from madrit to poland thru france, italy and few more. On most of the trains it says to reserve seats. Do i really have to do that? Its not very expensive but can add up quickly. Please let me know.

@Oskar06 If it says mandatory reservation you have to get a reservation. If it say recommended or optional you dont have to get a reservation.

France, spain and italy for example have mandatory reservations on all highspeed trains. (and those are not that cheap)

I suggest you start with this general introduction to Interrail:

For reservations, this is the best guide:

There are ways to avoid reservations, or to avoid the most expensive ones. Usually travel takes a bit more time then.
