We reserved seats on the TGV from Munich to Paris using the Planner app. We were unable to select the seats ourselves; they were automatically assigned. Is it possible to select specific seats yourself?

+8If you’re in First Class, you can put your booking reference into the TGV Inoui app, and change the seats there. I believe you have to go through a ‘change booking’ process to do it.
If in Second Class, then no. Although you can try your luck asking at a ticket office. It would probably have to be an SNCF ticket office.
It's in the “TGV Inoui Pro” app where you have seat selection for 1st class.
It's only available in French and indeed you need to do an exchange (échange), choose the same train and then go into the seat selection.
On raileurope.com, you can also book TGV seats and there you can give a seat type preference (in both classes). No seat map unfortunately.
