I can’t find the timetable of this route via routeplanner. Sj.se also shows no discount even if I add my eurail pass. However, this route (Stockholm-Nykoping-Norrkoping) is indeed shown on the eurail map but its operator Mälartåg is not listed as included. Since Mälartåg is the only operator on this route, can anyone confirm the validity of eurail pass on this route?
Maybe you ask the Company directly https://malartag.se/kundservice/ I just asked them via Facebook but it will take some time to get an answer :)
It doesn't look like it's included:

Hi seewulf, thank you for asking. Indeed that’s a good way. But I thought Eurail/Interrail can always explain better than the rail company, for example, if in some situation a rail company refuse to honor rail pass for some reason.

The train companies themselves decide about Interrail validity in their trains. It depends on the train company whether they inform Eurail/Interrail or their own staff better… let's say it varies.
AFAIK ALL normal trains in SE are included-except are just the SL=Stockholm local area '’pendeltag'’ and the not being a normal everyday line-the Inlandsbane( valid with surcharge). Same-same for Norway-this was regulated that way since they started to contract out train lines. I think Mälartag is just a fancy name for some kind of contracted operation, but i dont know the current operator.

Do you have a source for your statement that "all normal trains” are included?

Mälartåg is indeed a brand, used by Mälardalstrafik MÄLAB AB.

Hi seewulf, I tried to send them a message one week ago but have not recevied any reply. Did you get their confirmation?

Hi
From the 12th of December much of the regional traffic on the lines around Stockholm was transferred to a public company “Mälatåg”. Mälartåg has contracted MTR Nordic as carrier and are “product owner” for the tickets on these trains.
Lines affected are:
- Stockholm – Nyköping – Norrköping
- Stockholm – Flen -Katrineholm-Hallsberg (Regional trains)
- Uppsala - Stockholm-Eskilstuna-Arboga-Örebro (south of lake Mälaren)
- Sala-Västerås-Katrineholm-Norrköping
SJ Still runs the trains Stockholm-Västerås-Arboga – Örebro (north of lake Mälaren)
And about 50% of the trains Stockholm-Uppsala.
Our booking system provider has tried to reach out to Mälartåg about Interrail validity and participation, but until now there aren't any agreements in place. So for now Mälartåg is not covered by Eurail/Interrail. Hopefully it may change during 2022.
Hi All,
Just reposting what I put on another forum a few weeks back that some may find helpful.
I recently contacted Mälartåg by email and they confirmed to me that they are now part of the Interrail and Eurail scheme. You just turn up on the day. Seems good to me.
This link also confirms that they have now joined the scheme.
