System error when booking seat reservations (DB app)

Is anyone else getting a syteem error when hitting the Go to seat reservation on the Deutsche Bahn app? It seems I can book seat reservation via Eurail, but then that would cost me 16 euros for a two-leg journey (i.e. 2 trains) instead of 6.90 euros for the same journey using the DB app! [10-2-2026]

Currently the seat reservation system of DB is not working.

I can reproduce that issue.

However you will end up cheaper if you buy your seat reservations through ÖBB for 3€ or CD for 3.xx € per train. The latter even offers full refund until 15 minutes before departure.

Thanks for the quick replies. I had tried the OBB app. It immediately responded “Ticket not available” for my particular journey. I then tried booking the seat reservation for the same journey via DB’s website (bahn.de), and there it said that the tickets were sold out! That was helpful. This is just once of those instances where DB's app is not quite as +flexible as bahn.de.
