Morning!

I was reading that the EC trains from Germany can sometimes get delayed so I wondered if any of you seasoned travellers could have a look at my route and let me know if you think there’s enough room in there should there be any slight delays. This is our journey (2 adults, 2 kids):

TUESDAY 1ST AUGUST 2023

St Alban Depart 07.57 (RE 86524)

Geltendorf Arrive 08.16

Geltendorf Dep 8.49 (RE 78921)

Buchloe Arr 09.03

Buchloe Dep 09.36 (reservation booked) (EC 196)

Zurich Arr 12.27

Zurich Dep 12.59 (IC 772)

Basel Arr 13.53

Basel Dep 14.21 (TER 96226)

Mulhouse Ville Ar 14.44

Mulhouse Ville Dep 15.40 (reservation booked) (TGV 6706)

Dijon Arr 16.56

Thanks in advance!

*Train nerd alert*:

You can check the delays the last 30 days here: https://www.zugfinder.net/en/start

You fill out the train number, and then you can check what the average delay is (not every train is yet in the system though).

My guess is that the EC 196 will be the most risky for delays. The rest seems rather okay, based on a quick search.

And does anyone know how long it takes, roughly, once at Zurich HB to get from platform 31 to platform 15?

Many thanks.

It shouldn't be a problem to take this connection either :

- RB St. Alban - Geltendorf 08:28 - 08:59

- RB Geltendorf - Buchloe 09:07 - 09:22

I agree EC196 will be the most risky but even if we take into account the usual 30-min delay you can make it to Mulhouse on time.

There are 5 trains per hour between Zurich and Basel and there's a later TER between Basel and Mulhouse : 14:51 - 15:14.

Btw 1st August is Swiss National Day :)

Just a few minutes. Platform 31 is in the tunnel but there are quick ways to get to the surface. Just follow the signs.
