Hello Interrail community! 
Does anyone have tips about a route that takes only regional trains to get from Madrid into the South France? Me and my friend ran out of money and want to avoid seat reservations!
All tips are much appreciated!

When?
And where, South of France is a rather vague destination.
Not easy but Interrail planner shows options, but all of them will involve an overnight and 2 travel days.
Just select reservation free filter.
Do it in stages - Madrid - Barcelona (at least one change on regional trains).
Then BCN to Port-Bou
Port Bou to Marseilles
Then Marseilles to Nice has regular regional train to all main stops.
Just filter on "no reservations " in the planner and you can see what options there are.
