I’m thinking of getting the 10 days in 2 months pass so would the route Berlin- Brussels- paris- Zurich- bled- Zagreb- Budapest- Bratislava- Vienna- krakow- Prague be within the 10 travel day allowance? Or do train connections in one journey take up your travel day? For example, Budapest-Bratislava with 3 change overs, do the change overs come in with the 1 travel day or do they count as separate journeys?

Yes can do.

BUT: some sectors cost a lot less as the usual average travelday. ANd DO note the high supplmt to pay for the direct Thalys BRu-Par-you can do for much less by taking slower trains. For a direct Par-Into Swiss it cost an awful lot more as just till last stop before border and then use locals.

Bp-Blava is a direct train ev 2 hrs-so I do not get the 3 changes. (these run on to Praha).

Once again: on a chosen travelDAY you can board as many trains as you like/can manage (trains of companies that participate in the scheme) on that day. Even when the last train used passes midnite.

Besides that THalys the Overnite Zúr-Slovenija MUST be reserved, and also trains to/fro Krakow-the last best done locally at station. (In PL it is free, but not for INTernational). Others can do without, but this has been explained to you before.

If you want to plan your trip, please do not use the rail planner app since it doesn't get enough updates to be reliable. For international planning, the DB planner is a good choice, although national planners will usually be even more up to date. You may also want to check on a map where these cities are located to determine the best order in which to visit them.

3 rules to understand how the pass works :

  • A travel day begins at 00:00
  • A travel day finishes with your last train taken before 00:00 (if you use a night train, it counts with the day before)
  • You can use an unlimited number of trains during a travel day (one way or round trip)
