I'm coming to Sofia 3 days before I want to take the night train to Istanbul. As I understand it I have to get a seat reservation at the Sofia train station. Does anyone know if my partner and I can count on getting two beds in a coach just three days before, or if I should look at some other option?

3 days before shouldn’t be a problem usually. But on weekends can be busy. They have now 5 waggons instead of 3 previously. In worst case you can take one of the many buses instead (but as said to 80% you should get a reservation).
