Hi,

Can anyone tell me why I cannot book a direct train from Bologna to Rome on Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th or Wednesday 29th July 2026?

There seems to be a 3-day window during which direct trains are not available and obviously that is when I want to travel.  I cannot see anything in planned disruptions.

To clarify, direct trains are showing as available before and after these dates.

Thanks for any assistance.

Bologna to Rome (Bologna – Roma)

Sunday 26th July – Direct trains are available to book

Mon 27th July – Direct trains are NOT available to book

Tues 28th July – Direct trains are NOT available to book

Wed 29th July – Direct trains are NOT available to book

Thursday 30th July – Direct trains are available to book

There are engineering works (trains need more time) and it looks like bookings have just been opened on the Trenitalia website.

This means you can already book on raileurope.com, but there you pay extra booking fees.

Tickets.oebb.at does not have extra booking fees, but it can take a few days before the updated timetables are published there and trains can be booked. There's no rush though, it's more than 2 months away and there are no pass holder quota.
