⚠️ Train traffic in southern Spain restored, except Madrid–Málaga [UPDATE on February 17]

For the time being, there are limited train options to travel to Andalucía:

• Intercity Madrid-Almería. Switch in Guadix for Granada. 
• MD Madrid-Alcázar de San Juan-Jaén (4hrs). Switch in Jaén for Córdoba (2 hours), Sevilla (4 hours) or Cádiz (6 hours). Switch again in Córdoba for high speed services to Seville (0h50) and Málaga (1h10).
• MD Madrid-Mérida-Sevilla, direct but slow (8 hours)
• Intercity "Torre del Oro" Barcelona-Cádiz, passing through Valencia, Alcázar de San Juan (reachable from Madrid in a Jaén bound MD), Córdoba and Sevilla.

Renfe is working on alternative travel options (buses and additional trains on the classical line). 

Other alternatives include long distance buses, carsharing, rental cars and flights.

I did seat reservations Granada-Cádiz through Interrail, but now got a mail by Renfe that this train is cancelled.

The trains running cannot be reserved through Interrail.

Chances to my travel and/or reimbursement/cancellations cannot be done on the RENFE webpage because the system doesn’t find the reservations.

Any idea on how to ask for a change? I just don’t feel like queuing up for a long time at the station to be told that there are no seats for Interrailers ….

Renfe don't have pass holders quota in their domestic trains. In addition, they have to offer an alternative solution without extra costs, and any pass holder quota may not be taken into account when your booked train has been cancelled.

2. Have you asked Interrail customer service?
3. What train(s) would you like to book instead now? (date, departure time)

OK, so we went to the station as that was the best way to start.

Had to go to Customer Service to get our reservations stamped and cancelled.

With that we had to go to the Booking Counters where we got refunded. And got new seat reservations for a later train. All fine and relatively quickly as there was no queue. Might be different earlier in the day.

No idea how long Customer Service Desk is open, but it was worth going in the evening (19h30).

PS: We had printed our reservations out - I don’t know how it works if you’ve only got them online / in your app. The person at the booking desk had to print a cancellation for each reservation - a lot of paperwork these days there 😉

Hi, we're due to travel Barcelona to Seville on 13th Feb. After the accident the info we saw said the engineering with was due to finish on 6th Feb, so I've waited until today to work out if I need to change anything. The RENFE app seems to show our planned train running as normal. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

The RENFE website has info about alternate travel arrangements from 2nd & 3rd Feb, with no end date, so I'm a bit confused.

we’re in the south of Spain at the moment and the area is quite badly hit by bad weather, with landslides, rivers that burst their banks etc. Córdoba and Sevilla are both affected. Not sure if the trains are running, even if it says so on the RENFE webpage, as I found this online:
