I have to be in Prague next May 28th for work, and I was thinking of seizing the opportunity to visit Wien in Austria after that, and have my short experience of  train travelling through Europe that I have been dreaming for 20 years and not been able to do so far. I would need some advice as to how to connect Wien and the north of spain to return after wandering about Wien a little bit; thanks

It depends what you mean by North of Spain. If you’re aiming for the Basque Country, the most logical route is probably going to be via Paris, one way or another, then down to Hendaye on the border.

If you mean Catalunya, then you can take a route via Switzerland and Lyon, to cross the border on the Mediterranean side.

There are a couple of useful night trains, including Vienna-Brussels, Berlin-Paris, and Paris to the Spanish border. However day trains through Austria and Switzerland would probably get my vote.
