Hi, everyone

I would like to know if there is an Allegra unit in the Bernina Express. We are planning to do a return trip from Chur to Tirano and use the panoramic train only in one way

thanks!

The Bernina Express trains consist of an Allegra unit hauling a rake of panoramic coaches.

All the other trains on the line are a mix of units, locos, low floor and regular coaches.

The Allegras have some opening windows, all the windows on the regular coaches open. The panoramic coaches windows do not open.

Trains on the Bernina line between St Moritz and Tirano are always hauled by an Allegra unit as that is the only RhB rolling stock suited for 1000 volt continuous current.

Trains between Chur and St Moritz are generally locomotive hauled/pushed Alvra compositions + some older carriages. In the Alvra composition, windows can be opened in the photography compartment, situated at the end furthest from the control car. In the older carriages windows can be opened, except the panoramic carriages.

Thanks. So, I can take a nonpanoramic train from Chur to Tirano at the same time that panoramic one.
