Bicycle reservation on NOMAD/SNCF lines with Eurail pass.

I have a Eurail pass and plan to use it for the NOMAD/SNCF train from Deauville to Paris. That train line requires free reservations to bring a bicycle on board. There seems to be no way to reserve it through Eurail and when I ask them for guidance, they say to contact SNCF.  SNCF meanwhile tells me to contact Eurail since they are the travel agency.

Does anyone have any guidance for this problem? I would rather not wait till boarding time to make the reservation at the station.

I'm very sceptical of any such AI-generated answers.

I'd suggest to call SNCF or to ask at an SNCF ticket office to book.

Hello @Bcpaulos

You can make reservations here, unfortunately only in French:

https://www.ter.sncf.com/normandie/services-contacts/ma-place-a-bord-reservation-abonnes

Let me know if you need more help, I could make screenshots with an example.

@Bcpaulos Sorry, I think that the previous link is not valid because you need a travelcard. I will inform you if I find another one.

@Bcpaulos

I didn’t find any other link, I will ask the customer service of Nomad, but I suppose that it is not possible.

The AI help bot at SNCF just gave me these answers.

Is that true, that Eurail does not allow users to reserve anything other than passenger tickets?

At the TER NOMAD (https://www.ter.sncf.com/normandie) site, these are the results -- note that it says tickets are not sold through this site (their own?), and click through for info on bike reservations.

The bike reservation link directs to these instructions (https://www.ter.sncf.com/normandie/services-contacts/voyage-velo-train/reservation-velo-train-krono-paris) which simply direct me back to Ma Place a Bord.

» You can reserve a bike when you purchase your ticket or, for subscribers, when you reserve your seat via My seat on board .

Which requires an SNCF ticket number to reserve a bike.

What a run around!  I’m starting to think Eurail passes are not worth the effort.

@Bcpaulos

I think that SNCF has two systems for bike reservations:

— A standalone system when seat reservations are not mandatory

— A combined system seat and bike reservations when seat reservations are mandatory

Unfortunately, SNCF doesn't sell Interrail/Eurail reservations on sncf-connect, but only on ticket vending machines at the stations.

I don't know if combined seat and bike reservations would be available for resellers like Eurail and Rail Europe. I only notice that it is not possible to buy them because this functionality is currently not implemented.

You could also ask TER Normandie directly:
