Question

Created a trip, reserved seats but now can't find the train journey?

Hi All,

New to rail travel!

Earlier in the month i arranged a trip. London > France > Italy > Switzerland > London (Via France).

It’s for 4 people and includes several reserved seats over a two week period.

On the day i “sorted” the trip i added all the details to the app and all the journeys were there.

This included a trip from Basel (12:34) > Paris Gare De Lyon (15:38) on the 7th June ahead of getting the Eurostar at at 6pm.

I am now trying to add the journeys to the other travelers apps. but we can not find this journey. There are also no other options (except for ones that require multiple changes). Does this journey still exist? this was also a journey that required a reservation and was relatively expensive.

Last thing we want is to rely on this train, to find out it doesn’t exist and then we miss our Eurostar journey!

Any help much appreciated.

Please mention dates and departure times of the trains you can't find.

Hi rvdborgt.

It’s the Basel to Paris Gare De Lyon on the 7th June 2026. Departing at 12:34 and arriving at 15:38.

Thanks,

It looks like there are engineering works on the route on that weekend, unfortunately, and no trains running on the line from Basel into France.

Instead, you can get a tram to Saint-Louis, a TER to Strasbourg, and a TGV from there.

Or travel via Karlsruhe in Germany, where you can pick up a train to Paris.

You can check the options on Bahn.com and SBB.ch, which both have up to date timetable info.

Although that sounds a bit long winded, either of those routes will bring you into Gare de l’Est in Paris, which is only a short walk from Nord, as opposed to having to get a metro from Gare de Lyon

Have you already reserved seats on the 1236 departure?

Thanks ralderton.

Yup we reserved the seats for the 12:34 depature. Which were relatively expensive to reserve.

We are needing to get into Paris around the 3-4pm time to give us enough time to get on the Eurostar.

We would actually start in Luzern the day of travel.

Looking i could do Luzern > Geneve > Paris.

Will pay for the Reservation between Geneve and Paris and then try refund the Basel to Paris.

Does this make sense and would work?

I’d wait to hear if there’s any advice from other forum members before shelling out any more money, or accepting a refund. They might have some better ideas.

I would be tempted to go via Germany, since the reservation fees are lower and as I said in the previous message, you arrive at Gare de l’Est.

There’s an 0854 from Lucerne, changing in Olten and Karlsruhe, arriving Paris Est at 1451. Reservation fees would be €19pp, compared to the €29 or €39 you’ve paid already.

What's the departure time of your Eurostar? That would help in proposing alternatives.
