I am a first time Eurail rider. I am looking to go from Paris to Zurich in mid to late June and nothing is available. Is there some kind of event or shutdown going on during this period? The train scheduler wants to send me north to Brussels then across to Germany and down to Zurich, it is like an extra 4 hours.

Timetables have not been published yet. There will be direct trains between the two, taking 4 hours. You can check current times, they’ll be similar.

If you give your exact travel details: date and time, you will get a better answer. If your only train travel will be from Paris to Zürich, the a Eurail pass is no good value. Normal tickets will be cheaper.
