Greece to bulgaria

Hi, I want to go interrailing from Greece (Athens) to Bulgaria. Does anyone have tips for trains and the best route to take?

You can take a train to Thessaloniki and then a bus to Sofia (not included in Interrail).

There are no other easy options.
