Leaving night train earlier than stated on my reservation

I have a night train reservation (couchette) from Warsaw to Budapest, but my plans have changed and I want to leave the train earlier, in Bratislava. Will this be a problem? I remember that attendants on some night trains take in your passport and only give it back in the morning, so if they don’t return it on time that might be a problem.

You need to talk to the train crew and information them about the fact that you want to leave the train earlier than stated on your ticket.

Leaving the train earlier isn't a problem. Just notify the couchette attendant when you board. AFAIK passports aren't taken anymore, but reservations and tickets sometimes are.
