Messed up travel days - this a solution? (nighttrain)

Hi all. I have a 4 day pass. Will travel 3 days on it then take the night train from Amsterdam to Zurich (leaving Amsterdam at 19.05) and then travel the day to get home in Italy. However, is it right that the day I get on the night train and the next day travel as two travel days…? I messed that part up I believe.

Could I solve it by buying a regular ticket from Amsterdam to the first station where the train arrives after midnight (Bonn)? Amd activate my travel day from Bonn? Only 20€ I saw, would be an easy fix, right?

You could indeed do that.

If you take another train after midnight, then you always need a new travel day. Or indeed you use a separate ticket for one of the days.
