The most unforgettable trip I took was an Interrail trip with my two best friends, Alex and Roi. At the beginning of the summer, we got together and decided to embark on a 12-day adventure through six European countries. We left at the end of July from Brussels, where we started by visiting the city, its monuments, and the EU institutions. We also tried the typical dishes: mussels, fries, and, of course, Belgian chocolate.
From there, we went to Amsterdam, which was only two hours away by train. It was my favorite city of the trip: beautiful, welcoming, and with an incredible atmosphere. We spent the days visiting museums and excursions to nearby towns using our Interrail pass.
Our next destination was Frankfurt. The five-hour journey was very comfortable on a modern train, with landscapes that changed as we moved away from the coast. The city surprised us with how large and modern it is. We visited museums like the Senckenberg Natural History Museum and tried sausages, sauerkraut, and cider, which, according to a friend we met there, are very typical. We also made a trip to Mainz, which has a beautiful cathedral.
To get to Prague, we took an overnight train. Sleeping there wasn't the most comfortable option, but it was worth it because upon arrival we had the whole day free to explore. And the city doesn't disappoint: monuments, lively streets, and tons of things to do for visitors.
Then we took another overnight train, this time to Budapest. The difference was that here we had beds, so we slept like a king. We loved Budapest: we saw monuments, took a boat ride, and ate superbly.
Our last stop was Vienna. We didn't expect such a spectacular city. The palaces and gardens are stunning, and we also loved the local food and the atmosphere of the downtown bars at night.
In the end, it was 12 intense days. We walked a lot through the streets of all these cities, visited many monuments, met very interesting people, and experienced different cultures, architecture, and cuisine. I think it's wonderful to be able to take a trip like this using public transport. In my opinion, it's very efficient, comfortable, and with the Interrail Pass, it's also super affordable. My friends and I are already talking about which route to take next. I'm suggesting Norway, and my friend Alex would like to go to Italy. I'm sure either route would be fantastic.
