I want to take the Berlin-Prague train, and it says that seat reservations are recommended. However, when I try to book, it won't let me. The reservations must be sold out. My question is: can they deny me boarding if I have a travel ticket (but no seat reservation)? I don't mind standing, it wouldn't be a problem; my fear is that they won't let me get on the train.

Please mention date and departure time. If you're trying on the Interrail website: there are multiple possible reasons why a reservations there can fail.
The best place to book the day trains on this route is cd.cz (use "Reservation only”). You'll also find a seat map there.
Reservations are not mandatory for the day trains on this route, but stil recommended. If you don't have a reservation, you can still board and find a free seat. Some people don't show and there are often free seats for part of the journey.
