Traveling from Sofia to Istanbul

Hello, I am looking to go to Istanbul from Sofia, when I searched about it I started to see that I need a pass. I do not understand what is this pass for, is it a railway pass or something else? I am from Azerbaijan so with my passport I am free to go Turkey for 90 days and also I have a residence permit in Lithuania so I can freely travel to Bulgaria without any visa. My question is could someone please explain what are the passes? And do I need it to buy a train ticket from Sofia to Istanbul?

You don't necessarily need a pass to travel by train. You can also buy regular tickets.

A pass only makes sense if you will be travelling on multiple days and if these journeys would be more expensive than regular tickets. However, in Turkey and Bulgaria, regular tickets are so cheap that a pass often doesn't make sense.
