Trip planner in the Rail planner app is frustrating

The Rail Planner app frustrates me immensely when planning train journeys through Italy. I can barely plan anything. For example, I want to travel from Ravenna to Rimini. The planner says there's only one train per day to Rimini at 6:08 AM, with a seat reservation (€15). If I disable seat reservations, the planner claims it's not possible to travel from Ravenna to Rimini without a seat reservation. Yet, I know from a question I asked AI that there are 12 trains per day from Ravenna to Rimini for only €6 per trip!

I assume you can travel on local trains in Italy with the Interrail Global Pass (7 travel days per month).

My question: do you also use the Rail Planner app as a journey planner, or is it better to use a different app for trip planning? Thanks!

Trains in the Emilia-Romagna region are operated by Trenitalia TPER. Passes are valid, but they don't share their timetable data with the rest of the world. Check timetables on trenitalia.com.

Yeah, despite its name, it’s not really a good tool for planning.

Use bahn.com for timetables, in combination with the Seat61 reservations guide - which shows you how much you can expect to pay for different trains.

https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

Regional (RE, R, RV) trains are indeed included in the pass, and don’t need reservations.

Thanks! I tried bahn.com : it also shows one train a day from Ravenna to Rimini. So no help for train trip planning in Italy. I can only guess that regional TTPer trains are excluded in planners.
