Types of seating on the NJ 468

I booked a seat on the NJ 468 for the night train from Vienna to Paris. I hold a Global Pass second class pass and was not guided to the seat type at the time of booking and paid an additional $23.44 to reserve a seat. Are these seats sleep cabins? Or is it another type of seat?

You can see the composition of your train and pics of the stock interiors as well from this website https://www.vagonweb.cz/razeni/vlak.php?zeme=OeBB&kategorie=NJ&cislo=468&rok=2023&lang=en

The nightjet website should always be used for booking their trains in preference to other sites.

https://www.nightjet.com/en add interrail/eurail as discount for the correct passholder reservations.

You've booked a reclining seat, it won't be a great experience but you should still get some rest.

However if couchettes or sleepers are still available, I'd recommend booking one of them. As recommended use nightjet.com

Thank you for your comment. I have searched on the website and will book this train as there are no other seats left.... .TT

What is your travel date ? I can have a look.

As alternatives there are night trains to Zurich or Brussels (but then you'd need a second pass day to get to Paris).

My original plan was to leave Vienna on 21 September and arrive in Paris on 22 September. I have a Global Pass, which allows me to move between cities flexibly.

If you don't mind using 2 pass days I can see 2 itineraries. Option 1 :

- EN Vienna - Ulm Hbf 23:27 - 07:36 39€ 6-people couchette, 49€ 4-people couchette

- TGV Ulm Hbf - Paris-Est 08:04 - 12:32 17€

Option 2 (longer but more scenic) :

- NJ Vienna - Bregenz 22:55 - 08:29 26-36€ couchette, 46€ sleeper

- EC Bregenz - Zürich HB 09:00 - 10:27 (often delayed so have a margin in Zurich)

- EC Zürich HB - Basel SBB 10:59 - 11:53

- TER Basel SBB - Mulhouse 12:21 - 12:44

- TGV Mulhouse - Paris Gare de Lyon 12:59 - 15:42 20€

Option 3 (really scenic and you're able to cross Liechtenstein) :

- NJ Vienna - Feldkirch 22:55 - 07:49 same as above

- S Feldkirch - Buchs SG 08:47 - 09:09

- S Buchs SG - Ziegelbrücke - Zürich HB 09:38 - 10:17

Also possible to board the TGV from Zurich directly : 11:34 - 15:42 29€.

Of course you could stop somewhere in Switzerland and visit a bit. Do not hesitate for questions.
