Interrail or Eurail?

KerynBader

Hello! We are Americans living in Spain on military orders. Does this make us European residents? I’m not sure if we need to book Interrail or Eurail passes. Please advise, thank you!

If you are living in Spain that is your country of residence, thus you need to buy Interrail passes.

However, if you travel with your US passport, noone will question if you use Eurail passes.

IN the past-untill 3 yrs ago-there were major difference and then IR was much cheaper as EU-this is not the case anymore, soldiers.

EUrail now gives you even the better buy:as you can also use it unlimited in ESpana (though with the RENFE bad record of always making often hard to get REServaciones), where as IR would only give you MAX 2 days on the pass-to go out and back in.
