Inbound and outbound trips

With a global pass, when taking an inbound/outbound trip can I take more than one train? Meaning, do they count as travel DAYS where you can travel within your country of residence ilimitadly or rather a single trip where you HAVE to get out of your country?

Raill replacement bus in the UK

On my next Scotland trip, I plan a stop in York on the way back before riding to Portsmouth to catch the ferry. Unluckily, it’s on a weekend (22-23 march) were all lines south of York are closed. There are rail replacement buses running to Doncaster, and also to Selby and Leeds, all three in about an hour which then connect on trains to London, so in theory there’s no problem. However I’d like to be sure if I can consider this reliable, or if it can be like “there’s one bus every hour and 200 people waiting so you will wait for 3 hours”. LNER says the trains may be crowded and advises to book, but nothing special about the buses. Alternatively, there’s a regional train route that still works to Leeds via Harrogate, barely slower than the replacement bus, but the first train is quite late on the Sunday morning and I’d have to be sure it would run normally and not be overcrowded to decide to wait for it (otherwise I wake up early and take a bus asap). At least, the good things are I will

Roundtrip Zurich through Italy

Hi, we are a family of 4 traveling in July. Our plan is to start in Zurich, train to Venice, 2 days in Venice, train to Rome, 2 days in Rome, train to Salerno, 2 days in Salerno, train to Florence, 2 days in Florence, and then final train to Zurich. Should we be getting a Eurail pass? If we get a Eurail pass, will we have to pay anything more when we make our reservations for each routes? If we get 1st class Eurail pass, do we then have to pay extra on the individual trains or does the pass cover the cost of the 1st class seats? I’m so confused on what to do. Do I use Italiarail, Trainline, Omio???

General Strike in Italy 8 March 2025

I’ve read other questions and answers on the topic of strikes, including great info about guaranteed travel on weekdays and holidays, but haven’t seen anything yet about Saturday travel. We plan to travel from Innsbruck to Ponte Gardena-Laion on Saturday, 8 March, with a train change to RV 3843 in Brennero at 13:00. I expect we need to plan a different arrival day in Italy from Austria? We have a flex pass.

Can we purchase individual train tickets from this app? Or how do we purchase a pass? We are needing 4 train rides within 2 weeks - 2 on the same day. From Berlin to Munich to Venice to Florence to Rome. Advice?

Travel days

Hi, I have finalized my main travel destinations and booked seats, my question is If I click my first journey in Day 1 travel and then decide to day a trip to a village on that same day do I need to put the 2nd journey in day 1 travel day? and if so How do i add it to a travel day that has a journey already booked. Also my next destination will not be for 4 days, do i put journey 2 in Day 2 or wait and see if i do a day trip in between I have 6 main journeys getting me to my destinations where i have hotels booked , how do i plan day trips. SJ night train Hamburg-Stockholm

Hello, I’m trying to book the sleeper from Hamburg to Stockholm on 1st August. It says there is track work and it can’t be booked yet. Trains are bookable for the 5th August though. Does anyone have any idea what track works there are and when the timetable might be published? Also it seems I can no longer do a test run to find out Interrail prices (I haven’t bought the pass yet) because it needs a valid pass number (I tried an old one and tried creating a pass cover number which didn’t work). Thank you.

Trips from Switzerland to Italy

Hi, we’re travelling to Europe in June/July this year. Trying to book a trip from Interlaken, Switzerland to Florence, Italy in early July 2025 but only 1 option coming up which is a 18hr journey. Is it still too early to be booking this trip and can I assume there will be more options available to us in a couple of months when it’s a bit closer to the travel date? Thanks. :)

One country pass France combined with Deutschlandticket valid?

Hey everyone, I will be travelling on a One-Country France Pass through France. I live in Germany close to the border and want to take the local train Offenburg-Kehl-Strasbourg to cross the border. I also own a Deutschlandticket which is valid up to the borderpoint Kehl (Gr) (which is a few metres further than the physical train station of Kehl). My question is if I need an additional ticket for the section Kehl (Gr) to Krimmeri-Meinau (first stop in France) or if my interrail will also cover this stretch. Maybe this is kind of similar to Basel SNCF/SBB being included in the one-country France pass. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have an EU rail pass for 15 days 2months(flex). I need to know of it is possible to travel The routes and with planned travel days below: MUnich-zurich (1 day) Munich-Berlin- Paris-Munich(3days) Munich- vienna -Budapest-Munich (2days) Munich- insbruck- bologna- venice- rome -Munich (5 days) I would like to take break with multiple trips to- and -fro with munich as my base , or am i missing something regarding inbound and outbound conditions?

Trains Between Italy, Switzerland, and Croatia

Hi there! My husband and I are planning a trip this April-May to visit Italy, Switzerland, and Croatia. We are a little confused about... How far in advance we should buy train tickets. Friends/family have said you can buy the day of or day before and don’t have any issues with not being able to get on a train. Is this true? Traveling from Venice to Interlaken. When we go through the purchase ticket flow, we are prompted to buy a Eurail Pass and they are SUPER expensive. Can you not just buy one-off tickets? Do we have to buy a pass? Buying tickets from one country to another. Is this a more complicated process? Thanks for your help!-Claire

Seat availability

I wanted to ask questions on how seat availability is on trains which state “This is a popular train. Seat reservations are recommended but not required.”. For example theres a train from budapest to Prague but it says seats are recommended. Obviously if its possible to save money I would want to not pay unnecessarily for seats that are available without booking. For context we are group of 4 people and was wondering if all 4 would be enough for these kinds of trains. Would highly appreciate someone who has done this trip before and has experience to give advice on the subject

i’d booked the class 1 seat before the trip on the schedule to take the euro star train from rotterdam to brussels, unluckily the train was cancelled! how can i continue my trip through the train cancelled issue?
