How can we get more people on trains instead of planes?

Hey Eurail/Interrail Community,We have an exciting topic to discuss today: getting more people on trains instead of planes!🚆✈️ With all the talk about sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint, we know that trains can be a fantastic alternative to air travel. Bonjour,Ce sera notre première utilisation d’un pass interail et d’un train de nuit.Nous souhaitons aller de Milan (après une journée de trains déjà depuis Bruxelles), vers la Sicile (on doit encore voir si on va jusqu’à Syracus, Palerme ou Messine).La date étant fin avril, la réservation n’est pas encore possible sur Trenitalia, mais est-ce qu’il faut réserver les couchettes via interrail (43 €/couchette), ou peut-on le faire via Trenitalia justement pour moins cher ?Nous sommes 2 adultes et 3 enfants, dont la plus jeune à 4 ans, du coup on prévoit de voyager dans une cabine de 4. Peut-on réserver pour 4 couchettes uniquement ?Merci pour vos retours,Joachim

Netherlands travel

Hi there, I’m weighting up options as to whether we using an interrail pass versus single tickets for travel next year (departing from the UK).Are there any day tickets available for train travel in the Netherlands (we’ll be based north of Amsterdam and will want to visit Amsterdam, Delft, Harleem and the Hague, perhaps one other place by train also, plus travelling by bike, bus and ferry!)?2 adults and 2 teens ages 13 and 15.Many thanks.

Collection of wrong information in the Railplanner App

Hi guys!Would be nice to have a collection of wrong (or missing) information on the Railplanner App.I will start:IC/IR/EC Switzerland<->Domodossola: The app says a reservation is required. Actually there is none required. Just if you continue to/from Domodossola from other Italian destinations, a reservation is needed…  EN (München/Zürich)-Salzburg-Budapest: The EuroCity part of this train is not shown in the app. With the EC carriages you can travel without a reservation between Salzburg and Budapest. For many EC/RJ trains between Budapest and Vienna it says that a reservation is required. That’s not true. Only for domestic trips INSIDE Hungary (e.g. Budapest-Györ) a reservation is required (which can be easily done on a ticket machine at the station or also online). For many trains on the Bludenz-Bregenz line it says “not in pass network” if they are coming from Schruns. This is due to Montafonerbahn being not part of the railpass (Bludenz<->Schruns), but on the stretch B

Pass or Ticket Options for Andalucia Trip

Hello,We’re back on the rails after a year off and the first of two trips is a week looping around Adalucia, reading up on rail pass versus Renfe Pass versus just buying the tickets. I need to do the maths but has anyone done this and has experience to share, its probably about 6/7 trains.I’ve started reading up on seat61 too but wondered if anyone had done something similar.Thanks

Help with planning would be great!

Hi Community!We are going to Amsterdam for 4 days in February, and Rome for 4 days also.  We luckily have 4 days in-between!  Feb. 23 to Feb. 27.  Our current itinerary had us going back to New York, but we would rather make the trek between by train.Here is our thought process, but please advise if anyone has some better options!We are going to get a Global Pass for 5 days.  Feb. 23 - early train to Brussels.  Spend the day in Brussels (Feb. 23)Feb. 23 - Night train to BerlinFeb. 24 - Day in Berlin (Overnight in Berlin)Feb. 25 - Day in Berlin - Night train to MunichFeb 26 - Day in Munich  -  Here is where we need some helpFeb 26  ..  ideally we would do a night train Munich to Pisa..  but I don’t think there is a route? We would prefer to make a stop in Pisa without losing an entire day - is that possible, or should we try to find a night train directly to Rome?  Our check in is Feb. 27 Is there a Better way to see as many countries as we can in between Amsterdam and Rome in these fou

I have Eurail Global Pass and have booked reservations for Paris CDG to Amsterdam direct on Eurostar.  Where do we get on the train at Paris CDG ?  Can anyone help that has made this trip ?

Austria to Italy Brenner Supplement

We plan to travel from Salzburg to Bologna on a Railjet with transfer in Innsbruck using a first class eurail pass.  The seat reservation fee on the obb website is 3 euro.  But when I put the seat reservation into my shopping basket the 15 euro supplement that is supposed to be paid is not added to the seat reservation fee.  I have selected the eurail pass discount for my obb profile.  The eurailpass website says that seat reservations made on obb site will automatically include the supplement.  So I am puzzled as to what we should do.Thank you!

Hello! I’m currently planning to visit Europe by this December.Can you please help me as i’m researching for train passes in Europe between France, Switzerland, and italy. I plan to travel on 24th Dec - 29th Dec.If i buy 2 for adults, are the tickets for kids free? Travel issues with the Serbian border

Hello In July we want to travel to Montenegro with the train (interrail). We will be departing in Belgium. We heard from other people who wanted to travel to Montenegro in the past that they had some issues with travelling trough Serbia. Aparantly, Serbia is not letting everybody trough. Lisbon to Bruges - is this possible?! Help and recommendations welcome!

Hi I need HELP! I’m last-minute (I had a rough itinerary before but reality is setting in...) planning my travel pass to travel from Lisbon (more specifically, I’m in Alcabideche right now) to Bruges, leaving tomorrow Nov 19th and arriving *ideally* late-night Nov 20th. I have 2 days left on my Eurail Global Pass that I want to use, but this route seems so complicated with its many options/side-routes, expensive seat reservations, and lack of night train (my preference/ideal) options with my timeline. It seems it may be better to bus into France, which I am willing to do if it is inexpensive, but ideally I’d use my remaining 2 travel days with minimal additional expenses on seat reservations and overnight accommodation. Has anyone done this route or a similar one (Portugal to Belgium) with success recently??? Should I just take the L and take a bus somewhere into France and then train to Bruges from there?! I will accept any and all suggestions, thank you!!

Innsbruck to Chur trip

Hello fellow travelers, I’m having a bit of trouble setting my trip from Innsbruck(Austria) to Chur(Switzerland). It does show routes whenever I look into Rail europe or Omio, but I’m not sure about connection times, they all seem to be pretty short to me.Three to nine minutes so you know. I fear I won’t make it in between connections. Apparently I don’t have to make any seat reservations for this route. Has anyone ever made this trip and have any tips or advices on how to make this route?

From Milan to Rovaniemi

Hi! I’m a solo traveller and on December 4th I will leave for my trip with Interrail. From Milan to Rovaniemi in 6 days. Interrail stops: Zurich, Hamburg, Copenaghen, Stockholm, Helsinki. During the trip I will visit the main points of interest in the cities of Hamburg, Copenhagen and Stockholm and taste local specialties. At my destination I will participate in a guided tour to hunt for the Northern Lights and visit Santa Claus' village during the day.

luggage storage at Interlaken Ost and Geneva

Hi! Is it hard to find luggage lockers at Geneva train station and Interlaken OST station? I am hearing that they get full and hard to find empty ones. We will be there the first week of August and will have 4 small carryon size pieces to store for the day. Also do they accept credit card or we need to have CHF exact change? Do they take euros?
