Travelling by train

My dream travel sround Europe consists in a slow train route trough the north of Italy, visiting the Alps and the wonderful Cities of Milan, Venice and Verona. The route would end in Slovenia. And this is my dream route aroujd Europe by train.

Geneva to Valence (France), breathtaking views of the Alps and lakes! ⛰️

Starting from Amsterdam and passing through Heidelberg and Munich, visiting Salzburg was lovely. Watching the scenery from the train from Hallstatt to Vienna was wonderful. We opted for the overnight train from Vienna to Bucharest. Our trip was tiring but also very enjoyable. I especially hope my next destination will be Rome, as I'm very curious about its historical atmosphere.

My favorite train ride was not in Europe but in an ex-soviet style train through Uzbekistan from Taschkent to Samarkand. We sat 3 people on one bench no air conditioning, and no lights when the train stopped for half an hour so the bugs would fly on less often.

My favorite train ride was the one in sri lanka going from kandy to haputale. Seeing the tea plantations and waterfalls through the open door was just amazing 

At my previous Erasmus, -I’m from Turkey- i unfortunately has chosen Germany as country of residince and not Turkey. In that case, you are not eligible to use your pass in your country of residince and since i’ve started to use it, It was too late.. I’d like to notice this issue 🙏

My favorite train ride is the one from Ljubjana to Innsbruck. Driving through the alps is just an amazing experience!! 

My dream slow travel route would take me from Frankfurt all the way to Marseille.Starting in Germany and slowly making my way south by train feels like the perfect journey — watching the landscapes change from cityscapes to rolling countryside, and eventually to the Mediterranean coast.For me, traveling by train is not just about reaching a destination, but about everything that happens along the way. I love the idea of meeting new people, sharing stories, exchanging smiles, and connecting with fellow travellers from different cultures. Those unexpected encounters often become the most memorable part of the journey.As the train moves closer to Marseille, the light softens, the air gets warmer, and there's this growing sense of freedom. Arriving there after truly experiencing every moment of the journey would make it even more special.That's what slow travel means to me.

Love to Travel the Route from Salzburg to Verona. Its amazing view to go by Train thru the Brenner .. Its like a Great nature Movie

Unlike car travel, there was no worrying about fuel stops, road fines, or the hassle of driving—just sit back, enjoy the scenery, and let the train do the work. I can't recommend it enough—if you love seamless, scenic travel, Interrail is the way to go!

My favourite train route I’ve taken is the one from Basel to Zermatt! The train had lovely big windows, the view was breathtaking and my sister and I where the only ones in our compartment! (The only negative thing was that the only thing in my budget in Zermatt was a pretzel and some discounted food in the grocery store, but what can you do ;)

Hi. I just learned that ticket for a dog for the train from Gliwice (Poland) to Wien (Austria) cost half a price of a normal human ticket and that is... A lot.Does anybody know if all international trains are like that? We want to go trough (Czech - only transit) Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and back ofc.Wanted to go with our 2 pups but if the fee will be the same in every international train, we will have to leave them behind. I just can't find that info.Please, let me know if you know, I will be VERY thankful.

I would like to do the Bernina express once more. I loved the scenery and still correspond with co-travellers I met on the route. Perhaps we could do it again together.

It's one of my dream! I'd love to leave from Oslo, then visit Stockholm, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Berlin, and Prague, and then return to Italy. I can't wait!

Is the interrail pass valid on the narrow gorge rail track that runs from Bilbao to Ferrol via Santander and Oviedo?

Hello, can someone tell what it means when looking at going from one city to another and you need to change trains, it comes up as a flag “Not bookable separately”-ie Zermatt to Milan

Hi all!In the beginning of June i'm planning to travel from Sofia to Craiova. However, i am a bit worried about switching trains in between. The whole trip will look like this:7:15 Sofia Sever → 8:47 Mezdra18 min transfer time9:05 mezdra → 12:20 Vidin40 min transfer time13:00 vidin → 16:13 Craiovai am a bit concerned that the time in between trains will be too short. I have no experience with Bulgarian trains so no idea about their punctuality. Is this something to be worried about or should i be fine? Also, how exactly does it work with making reservations? From what i read i should make train reservations at a ticket office. So for example, could i go to the ticket office in Sofia the day before the trip and make a reservation for all 3 trains? Or do i have to do this at the departing station? Thanks in advance for your help!
