Maybe you are new to the community or haven’t had a change to say hello! Either way, we can't wait to get to know you and your aspirations.

So, let's all introduce ourselves
:point_right_tone1:

What's your name? Where do you come from? What are you passionate about? What do you love about train travel and Europe?

Of course feel free to add anything more. You can share your favorite vacation spot, favorite book, place on your bucket list, picture of your pet, etc. Anything you’d like to share!

Hi everyone! I’m originally from England, living in Australia. I’m bringing my two teenage sons to Europe for almost four weeks and I’m planning to explore Europe with them by train. I had a wonderful month interrailing in 1988 as student and want them to have as good a time as I did! Planning on starting in UK, then onto Paris via Eurostar, then Italy and Greece. I’m sure I’ll have lots of questions as we get closer to December when we are going.

Hi my name is Alex and Im from Spain and I want to know Europe country to country month to month, I LOVE travel and meet other persons and different cultures and different foods, i dont know how to start but i have ilussions for this. I losted my house and my things and my pets, was stolen for other persons and I get depressed for It but in this i search an option to recover my happiness and my health. I am 27 years old.

Hey I'm Matt. 21 years old. Completely new to interrailling and this community. Unsure if I pressed the right button to reply to this post.

I am from the Netherlands, specifically North Holland. Currently studying Pedagogical Sciences with a deeper interest in clinical/forensics. I enjoy trying new things, cars, games, canoeing. Train travel hasn't been a good first impression. First time I travelled by train outside the Netherlands, was to London where there was a 5 hour delay. Thing I love about Europe, is how everything is just around the corner. It amazes me everything how quickly you can be in a different country with a variety of dialects and cultures.

I am from Cochin, India. Planned for travel in April 2020 got Schengen visa, unfortunately global travel ban declared, lost money in Air ticket and some lying  in credit shell. Not sure in 2021 when the Eurail travel dream can be fulfilled.

Hi,😊

I am proficient in six languages, working on two more, but I admit I am as unhurried as a local German train. I know how to snag a free drink in the train restaurant without lifting a finge. I can doze off in night trains, where seats are typically meant for standing. I have practically earned a diploma in finding seats, even in seemingly impossible situations. My life spans several countries, allowing me to spend a full 24 hours traveling by train.

Honestly, my motivation for reaching out here is a bit sour 😤 😭 My partner received an invitation to a meeting for active members in this community in Utrecht this April 24, and I did not. While I haven't been actively engaged in this community, I have invested a significant portion of my salary throughout my life for Interrail global passes. First I got thought traditional Interrail paper tickets. Now, with the move toward digitalization, I'm navigating this shift.

I feel a bit miffed about not receiving an invitation, especially considering my extensive Interrail travels. At least I wish to get an internal notebook, but I have never even got a notebook from Interrail. I am interested in becoming active here because I have unique ideas about the interrail community and a wealth of knowledge, not just about train connections but also about the subtle tricks and nuances of travel and maybe I will still get a shot at joining the community in Utrecht this April 24th.

We left the UK in 1983 and lived in Africa and the Midddle East for 10 years. We moved to Australia 30 years ago. We are starting at Perugia where one of our nephews is getting married in May 2024. The plan is to move on to Florence, then Lugano, Luzern, Lausanne in Switzerland, then on to Avignan, Perpignan in France ending up in Barcelona, Spain.

It’s a bucket list trip!

Omg yall life are full of adventure i love it. And I truly miss Melbourne but i was in the one in Florida, USA. Hopefully we get to meet in Spain and talk about our adventures. 🫶🫶

Hallo zusammen!

Hat hier jemand Erfahrungen, was man sehen sollte?Wie &wann buchen Ich am besten Züge?

Möchte mich evtl.auch jemand (ein Stück)begleiten?

Ich freue mich auf viele nützliche Tipps &Tricks.

Liebe Grüße &alle Zeit eine gute Fahrt,

Klaus

Hello everyone. My name is Bill and I live in Japan and will be traveling next week to Europe. Really excited for this trip as I have been thinking about it for a long time. I have lived in Japan for 30 years now after moving from America

Hi.. I am Fefe, from Portugal... 44/male.

I like to travel and know about countries, cultures and more... I think to have my first interain soon... Thank you. Obrigado

Greetings from Glenn in the USA!!  My wife and I are both retired and are planning to tour Europe this winter. We will travel to as many countries as the 90 day limit will permit which will hopefully include The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France.

Then another two months in the UK. (Whew)

I purchased the Eurail Global Pass and will use the mobile app with both our passes on one device. I am hopeful for a stress free experience using the mobile app.

See ya down the road. 😃

Hello, My husband and I are also retired and planning a Viking River cruise this August. We are also from the states. We are planning a Europe trip in the spring and are thinking about booking and down loading our passes on our devices for the first time. We wish you a stress free trip! I would love to know how it goes and if you have any tips for a fellow newbee. Holly:grin:

Hello, new to this level of train travel, and desperately trying to figure out how to put together a trip for six by rail.

Don´t worry :) Let the planning doesn´t stress you :) For me it´s already part of the Holiday :)
I worked few times as  seasonal Guide for some Eurail and Interrail package tour operators and had never bigger problems :) (Lost once a traveler of a Group of more than 20 persons but he could take the next train just an hour later :D :D ) Finally i have to say that many of them charge to much for the Tours they offer and i recommend to do it on your own with Refundable Hotel/Hostel reservations if something changes :)

Hi, I’m Annika. I’m from Heidelberg, Germany and have always loved travelling, especially to France. Although both my parents are German, I am definitely half French at heart. This year my husband and I are travelling to the south of France for the first time by Interrail with our children.

We are going to Marseillan Plage and are hoping to discover a region we both don’t know yet. Looking forward to meet other travellers here!

Hi, my name is Nirmal. I am a retired Canadian visiting Turkiye for a while and want to find out how to travel Eurail. I’m a bit of a novice, but the little bit of traveling I have done, I’ve done it alone. I want to travel from Ankara to London and just beginning to look at how to do this. So, nice to meet you, looking forward to interacting.

hello, I have a few questions about the rules of home country travel (I need 3) and calculating travel days when using nightjet. Haven’t used the ticket before, but seems to make sense for a multi trip i’m planing in Germany/Italy/France this summer.

Anyway I posted a really really long question and it just disappeared - it’s not showing in my profile either. Is it just being checked by moderators and will appear later or have I lost it for good? Thanks!

It's probably lost. This is your first post, according to your profile. Best is to try again (or use the search function because I have the feeling your questions have been asked before :). You can also type your question in a text editor and copy it in the textbox, so you don't loose the text if something goes wrong again.

oh no! it took ages to write!!! i’ll do it again tomorrow. I did search but that exact question hadn’t been asked as it was rather itinerary specific

ok, i’ve rewritten it, maybe the shorter version is better anyway.  If anyone’s feeling generous, take a look at my question please! arghhh! I think i'm in trouble, with home country travel rules | Community (eurail.com)

Hey community! 👋🏽

I’m Sascha from Hamburg, Germany. I am 29 years old and I’m starting my first Interrail trip from the end of May until the beginning of July. I will travel through Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. It would be nice to meet some one of you guys! If you are on the road the same time, hit me up! I am always down to grab a coffee or beer, do photoshoots and of course for partying!

Das sollte relativ problemlos mit dem Interrail Global Ticket gehen.

Hierbei bleibt nur noch die Überlegung, wieviel Zeit zu Verfügung steht, damit man sich für das individuelle, beste Ticket entscheiden kann.

Hi folks, my name is Jim. I have been to Europe before but that was when I was in my 20’s.  Now in my 60’s my partner and I are planning to visit Europe in December of 2023 (as our first trip), and a second trip in Spring or Fall of 2024. Neither of us has ever used rail service as a means of transportation on vacation but it sounds very affordable and doable. Instead of using hotels we plan on using MrBnB for places to stay.

Hello I'm Alan from Ireland and currently on a trip. Having gone from Valencia via France (delayed by the recent strike/protest yesterday) I'm now in Genoa and going to Florence tomorrow before continuing my trip towards Romania via Slovenia & Croatia. If anyone has experience of similar route I would like to hear from you. I have also commented on a thread regarding travel in France for another person planning a trip if anyone is planning travel in or through France which may be useful.

Hello,

My name is Margaret and I will be a newly minted retiree when we begin our trip - FREEDOM!  Oops I see Mike has posted earlier… oh well I can’t delete so you get to hear from both sides of our beautiful team.

Mike and I are about to embark on a three month trip through Europe traveling by train with a couple of ferry trips added in. This is my first trip to Europe so I am very excited.  While we have planned our locations, sites and hikes, we have left time to just soak it all in and quietly enjoy. Additionally, we are staying with local people rather than at hotels to better experience areas.

We have traveled by train in Thailand but this train trip is by far our most ambitious.  As we progress with our travels I know we will be drawing from the community’s expertise as we are so inexperienced.

We have two other trips planned this year Guam and Australia but they will not be by rail 😊

Thanks everyone and happy travels!
