I would take the night train from Sofia to Istanbul. We travelled as a family by a few years ago from Gothenburg to Istanbul, but because of extensive track work we needed to take s bus for the last leg from Sofia. It would be great to make that journey by night train!

I would take the sleeper from Milan to Palermo as it boards a ship to get to Sicily.

The night train from Munich to Innsbruck. And enjoy the ride further via Brenner Pass to Verona.

If I could spend one night aboard any sleeper train in Europe, I would choose the Oslo to Bodo connection. Long stretches of fantastic and sparsely populated landscape, highly enjoyable during the Summer when the twilight dunks the scenery into a magic light.  Would probably not get much sleep though ;-)

Any train that can bring me from the Netherlands to Sweden. I started studying there last year and it is a second home to me. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be to wake up to a snowy landscape!

I would like to board the Caledonian Sleeper! Absolutely loved the highlands and would like to wake up at Bridge of Orchy once more.

I would love to take the IC Notte night train from Milan to Palermo. I love Italy, but have only ever been on the north-side. It would be exciting to explore the south more and maybe visit a good friend of mine while I’m there!

I would travel from Belgrade to Bar just to get up at 4 am and be stunned by the breathtaking mountain landscape and the most beautiful light.

I would love to see more of Italy, especially Sicily, which is why I think Milan - Palermo would be a good option. I am also interested in how the train gets to Sicily via the ferry.

If I could choose any sleeper train, I would probably go for Sofia to Istanbul. Following the tracks of the old Orient Express, this train would allow me to discover regions of Europe I haven't discovered yet, and to experience the magic of night train adventure while waking up on the border of another continent the next day.

Bar-Belgrade in my next Balkan adventure :)

Tough decision. But to spend time in the beautiful and extraordinary floating jewel that is Venice, then slip into sleep on a train and arrive in the grandeur of Vienna in time for a breakfast Kaffee at one of its magnificent and laid back cafes seems to me quite the perfect itinerary.

The Nightjet Berlin-Paris !

Unfortunately the French government stopped funding it in 2025 😭

I’d love to take a Paris-Barcelona as well, to visit family there…  <3

I would take the night train from Sofia to Istanbul because it forms part of the legendary Orient Express route. Even though the train is certainly not quite as luxurious, the long history of this route alone promises a magical experience…

Love Letter to My Train

My dearest InterCity Notte 1955,

For one night only, I would adore you for the way you move through night like a quiet promise and for the moment you cross water without ceasing to be a train, floating on a moonlit bridge as if certainty itself could learn to drift.

For one night only, you carry me from north to south, salt‑skinned and soft‑minded, and return me at dawn a little braver than I boarded.

I imagine that you are the kind of journey that feels like a hand on the back, a nudge toward becoming. Just one night, that does not only just take me somewhere, but returns me, to myself.

Until our paths and tracks cross, I will be looking at the moon, from across the waters and miles, wondering about you.

Sending you all my love,

Quaelo

Finland, from Helsinki to Kemi, it would be  a repeat of a wonderful experience. The cabins are lovely, the view awesome (in summer :-)), the trains decorated with my favorite animal (owl) in my favorite color (green). Besides, I would like to go to Finland again, practice my Finnish and see more of the country.

Vienna - Amsterdam. I simply have to get the torn pancakes and coffee in Café Central again

I would love to go back to Scotland, combine Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a hiking trip.
Taking the Caledonian Sleeper is something I would very much like to experience.
