I really love the UK so I would love to take any sleeper train there. Since I'm from Mainland Europe I would probably arrive first in London and from there I could take the Caledonian Sleeper Train up to Scotland. I've been in Scotland before but I haven't explored much so that could be a really great opportunity to get to Scotland and explore :)

I’m sorry to say and unoriginally it would have to be the Orient Express just for one or two nights to see how the other half live and to experience the ultimate in the exotic, cultural, sophisticated side of the European spirit. But I would take it from Venice to Paris I think, because it is better to travel well on the way home. That is unless it was in Carnival season where I would do it the opposite way (Paris-Venice) and walk straight into one of the many masked balls.

An alternative which also entices is taking it all the way from Istanbul through Central Europe for the Grand Budapest experience, maybe ending at Venice.

I have taken the sleeper from Milano to Lecce and it was very good, even if the service and carriages could be modernised. Hopefully as the popularity of these services improves that will fund the upgrades that I think are appropriate for the efficiency and sophistication of this form of travel which we somehow forgot about until recently. I always sleep better on a train, and love waking up to the unfamiliar aroma of the air in a new country or region.

By the way a couple of times as a student in the 1980’s I took the train all the way from Venice down through Yugoslavia as it was then to Athens. At which point I took a ferry to see my parents in Cyprus, sleeping on the deck. That experience was far more basic in terms of comfort, of course, but it had its own sophisticated angle. And I met the most amazing people.

I do miss those years when even the most distant parts of Europe (from the UK, anyway) could be relatively easily reached by rail-only services. I hope they reopen the route direct to Greece soon.

Caledonian Sleeper to visit the beauty of Scotland and explore some of the distilleries.

The Nightjet Paris to Vienna would be my choice. It would be amazing to wake up in Vienna and revisit the city I first went to over 30 years ago.

In a combination of unique new experiences, I'd love to take the Trenitalia Intercity Notte, perhaps starting at Firenze Santa Maria Novella, and definitely getting off at Syracuse! Overnight travel, a train aboard a ferry, and gorgeous ruins- the thought delights me!

I'd love to try the Caledonian sleeper in Scotland. It's always been on our bucket list with my girlfriend it must be spectacular!

I love France’s trains de nuit, you can board the train after day in Paris and wake up on Mediterranean shore. Equally cool is the ride from Berlin to Switzerland. I love to wake up somewhere elase, different surroundings, different climate, the same bed :D

Trondheim to Bodø on the Nordlandsbanen during summer. Seeing the stunning nature while experiencing midnight sun, and passing into the Arctic Circle. Breathtaking and I have not even done it yet.

I've been lucky enough to travel on the night train from Stockholm to Narvik, Belgrade to Bar (several times now, because of my Serbian wife!), Budapest to Brasov, Sofia to Istanbul and even Paris to Andorra, but I'd love to travel the London to Scotland night train - I come from the UK originally, and to travel that route would be a dream - one, because of it's luxury, but also, night trains are such a rarity in the UK, I'd love to experience it

Spending a nice evening in Berlin, getting on the train and waking up in stockholm to have a nice cinnamon roll for breakfast sounds like a dream!

I would love to travel in the InterCity Notte night train. The idea of the train being transported by a ferry sounds really fascinating, as like the sea and the ground were connecting. I think something about Italy is magic, and travelling during the night also adds some mystery. 

Learning about the Santa Claus express night train in this post peaked my interest! I am a newbie to train travel, having just finished my first Interrail which included two night trains. It was a great experience and I would love to explore more!

Night train from Vienna to Rome, because I love Italy and Rome delights with its beauty.

I would love to take the overnight train to the Scottish Highlands, because there are some beautiful nature parks there, and the view from the train would be amazing.

I’d love to spend a night on the Stockholm–Narvik sleeper. Exploring Scandinavia by rail has been a dream of mine for years, and waking up surrounded by mountains, forests, and Arctic scenery would be an incredible start to the day. It would be a journey I’d never forget.

I would love to take the night train from Paris to Vienna because you wake up in a wonderful city, with an amazing culture and architecture, a really good atmosphere and nice places to visit. Austria is a great country, so taking a night train to Vienna, the capital city of Austria it's like a dream because you come out the train station and you just fall in love with Vienna 

I'd choose the SJ night train from Stockholm to Abisko, so I could fall asleep under city lights and wake up in Swedish Lapland's dark, snow-hushed wilderness. Waking up just in time to catch the aurora borealis dancing over the Arctic Circle.

Wow, I am really looking forward to reading the book! (whether I win or not haha). I would love to try the Helsinki to Rovaniemi, especially after discovering Swedish Lapland.  

As a fan of Agatha Christie and Hercule Poirot, I've dreamed of the Orient Express since I was young. Now I'm "an old lady" (like Miss Marple) but still have those dreams knowing they will remain as dreams. But maybe some shorter (and more affordable) trips by train will come true ☺️ 

I’d love to spend the night on the Munich-Warsaw night train so that I could visit the Polish capital and eat a steaming plate of Pierogi. Moreover it would be amazing to see Vienna (one of the many stops the night train does) at nightime, all lit up, from the window train.

The Caledonian Sleeper from London to the Scottish Highlands. Waking up to misty lochs, mountains, and wild nature right outside the cabin window must feel straight out of a storybook! In the busyness of my life, I really long for this kind of route that combines tranquility and adventure 💓🛤️
