My favourite journey by far is (during the winter) Oslo - Bergen and especially the section Geilo - Hallingskeid, it takes you over the Hardangervidda plateau and alongside Hallingskarvet and the Hardangerjokulen glacier, the views are amazing and I really recommend getting out at Finse station, the highest train station in Northern Europe.

I loved the train I took last year from Budapest to Bled!! Bled was one of the cutest, picturesque and calm places! For now the train journeys will be Breda-Rotterdam due to my university, but I have Breda-Basel planned this summer ☺️

Hey there!

My favourite Journey so far is to Portugal, but actually your Trip from over the Pyrenees into Spain sound so exciting, so far I was only a very short while in Spain, and would love to explore more in that beautiful country :D

This year, I’ll be boarding the Glacier Express, which proudly calls itself the slowest express train in the world — a piece of branding that feels refreshingly honest in an age of overpromising everything.

It runs between Zermatt and St. Moritz, taking its time across the Alps as if it has nowhere more important to be. Which, in a way, is the whole point.

I like the idea of a journey that refuses to rush. No sprinting through connections, no obsessively refreshing arrival times — just hours of doing something radically unproductive: looking out of a window. Forests, glaciers, and impossibly neat Swiss villages drift past, and for once, the view isn’t something you glance at between notifications. It is the main event.

There’s something quietly rebellious about choosing the long way on purpose. The Glacier Express doesn’t just cross mountains; it dismantles the idea that travel should be efficient at all.

So while I haven’t taken the journey yet, it already feels like my favourite — because anything that can make you look forward to eight hours of sitting still must be doing something right.

My dream journey would be from Stockholm all the way to Blackpool, via London, to attend the Rebellion festival.

I really loved travelling from Venice (crossing Monaco) to Marseille to Nice and then Barcelona. Most of the journey you see the ocean. I didn't need my phone or fancy music or a netflix show. I just looked outside the window, watching the waves and listening to instrumental music. Iconic. Next time tho, I'd like to try the northern countries (denmark, finland, sweden and norway).

I haven’t traveled much by train, but I really enjoyed the train ride across the Great Belt in Denmark because it made me feel as though I were sailing on a boat in the middle of nowhere. It was a very interesting experience. Now I would really like to travel by train through the mountains in Austria.

I was a student, 20 years old, and on my first Interrail Trip (early 90s).

Back then, the basic Interrail ticket allowed total freedom, i.e. travel for every day in the given month.

The best train I discovered was the overnight from Paris to Vienna.

I came to realise, that if I could sleep in a train seat, I might save the cost of an overnight stay and arrive in of Europe’s great cities the next morning.

Then I discovered the overnight train from Vienna back to Paris.

And that’s how I spent a week, bouncing around between these two fine European capitals.

My favorite - Linha do Douro, from Porto to Pocinho in Portugal.

I would love to travel from Paris to Barcelona! I'm a wheelchair user and I've heard accessibility is great in Barcelona and the city of course is beautiful as well. I think it would be an amazing trip! Another option is travelling from London to the North of Scotland. I've lived in Scotland and I would love to visit the UK again and see the beautiful landscapes.

The train journey that's in my wishlist is Helsinki to Rovaniemi Santa Claus Express. I really enjoyed arctic circle train from Stockholm to Kiruna last to last year using Inrerrail pass. And i am eagerly waiting to experience the Santa Claus Express as well.

But if it's exactly about the slow trains then my wishlist is Glacier express in Swiss.

I love the journey on the ‘old’ FENE line along the North Coast of Spain. Having travelled through France and enjoyed the beach pleasures of Biarritz, I crossed into Spain and enjoyed the Pinxos in San Sebastian and Bilbao. Then it was on the narrow gauge train to some lesser know spots. These included Cathedral Beach, Ribadesella, Oviedo, Ferrol, La Coruna, Vigo and eventually to the magical Cies Islands. I returned to Santander on the regular trains and caught a ferry home.

My favorite route is travelling through Scandinavia from Copenhagen to Oslo (that you can do within a day) and going up north to e.g. Trondheim in Norway. You can really enjoy the landscapes while travelling.

For me it is quite simple - arriving at Gare du Nord, Paris. Suddenly I am in Europe (I’m from the UK) and my adventure usually begins. I tend to stop in Paris for a couple of days, go to museums and my favourite bars and then plan where to go next.

My favourite route is any Mediterranean one, from Valencia to Rome. I think no other route can surpass a Mediterranean trip in summer!

My favourite slow travel route was between Nice and Ventimiglia. It was a beautiful view on the Cote d’Azur!

I still dream about a slow travel route through Norway and Sweden, this time maybe bring my tent and hiking boots, no phone at all but a book and my fujifilm camera to catch the moment

The overnight train from Milan to Sicily is definitely number one on my wishlist. It is the only remaining passenger train service where the train physically goes onto a ferry in Europe. That being said, I would love to one day take a train from somewhere in Bulgaria that enters a ferry in Varna, across the black sea to Georgia. Both countries are breathtakingly beautiful.

Just a few days ago, I enjoyed an amazing journey from Tirano to St Moritz on the Bernina Railway, followed by St Moritz to Chur on the Albula Railway. Both seriously impressive feats of engineering. The weather was perfect and the views spectacular. A particular highlight was witnessing an Italian lady seeing (and feeling) snow for the very first time. Her husband leapt off the train at Ospizio Bernina to grab a handful of snow, then dashed back onto the train!

Any journey in the Scandinavian countries or Switzerland - the scenery is spectacular and the trains are excellent. Definitely should be on any Interrailer's bucket list!

Prague to Dresden. The Elbe valley is just gorgeous and, at times, very romantic too!

I love traveling by train in general, but especially in the mountains. The view outside of the window is amazing and it always makes me feel like I’m in a movie. Then I want to go camping next to a lake. Waking up early, swimming, climbing trees, making my coffee on the fire and going for a nice hike.

I can’t wait to discover Poland by train and maybe go up to the Baltic States.

I loved the slow train trip from Montreux to Interlaken on the GoldenPass Express. Switzerland is beautiful, and that experience will always stay with me.
