My dream rout would be to go by train through Spain and Portugal. And just enjoy the lifestyle and the amazing nature and also the quiet and relaxing way from town to town.

Stockholm to Narvik — I’d use the pass to take on a proper slow journey and happily pay for the children to come along, because it feels like the kind of trip they’d remember long after.

The Toy Train from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling is on my wish list as my Mum used it to go to and from Dow Hill  boarding school in Kurseong for 12 years <3

The Centovalli from Domodossola to Locarno must be my favourite so far. The views are amazing and in autumn there’s plenty of beautiful foliage

My favorite train route was between Oslo and Copenhagen crossing Norway !

Slowly going up from Copenhagen to Skagen by train. A few stops on the way until finally reaching the final destination and walking up to where baltic sea and north sea meet.

Arlbergline definitely. Traveling by train through the mountain scenery is a dream come true, especially with all the interesting bridges on the route!

My next train route from The Netherlands would be starting in my home town, straight to Berlin to have a craft beer at the Muted Horn while crunching on a burger from Burger Meister that I just ordered through UberEats. After I drank plenty of beers from their crazy beer menu, I’d take the train to Copenhagen and visit Warpigs to have some amazing American bbq feast, visit Reffen for some beach vibes and street food and hit some museums before leaving to Malmö. I’ve never been there but my friend lives there, we met online and we’ve never met, so it’s time to make that happen! After that it’s time to head back, but I’d have a pit stop in Hamburg. The last time I was there was during Covid, and it didn’t do the city justice, I want to see it in all its glory! Now it’s really time to hit back home, the last train will be back to my hometown so I can be reunited with my 4 lovely cats 💖

The nighttrain from Stockholm to Kiruna is fabulous. Falling asleep when passing cities and waking up into he middle of the wilderness possibly with snow ❄️ 🌲

I definitely loved my Benelux tour but it was really short for the amount of city’s we visited with Luxembourg, Bruxelles, Brugges, The Hague, Amsterdam

My dream Route would start in southern Germany or Switzerland going down the French coast to Spain and then visit Spain and Portugal and on the way back stop in Paris.
That is my dream Route I hope I can realize in 2028

Taking the train from Amsterdam, to Germany, through Switzerland and then ending up somewhere in Italy….loved it….needs to be done again!

I really enjoy visiting Italy from France : Cinque Terre, Roma but also Florence and even Sicily ! Theses regions are so different from each other it was like 5 trips in one !

A though one, but probably the trip I took from Trieste to Bled during my first Interrail in 2022. I really loved the view on the whole route. I remember, at one changing station (sadly I cannot recon which exactly) I felt so calm and decelerated watching the stations’ organisation being done manually by hand without any newer technology. This travel day made me feel grounded and fully arrived in my journey even though I was already traveling for, I think, 10 days. Looking from the future, I’d say this trip changed somehow my perspective on travelling by trains (coming from Germany, I mostly associate(d) train travel with stress and delays).

My favourite journey is from London, England to Bari in Italy. I love the variety of countryside and cityscapes you see from the train travelling through the UK, France, Switzerland and Italy.

The favourite train travel which I have experienced, was after hiking the West Highland Way in Scotland! Going from Fort William all the way back to Glasgow was such a surreal and scenic experience. The train ride goes past vast wilderness, which is only accesible by that track. Joined by the guys I met whilst hiking, we travelled through movie-scene like hills. The experience especially added to that trip, knowing that we had hiked there for days. However, by sitting in the train we had a broad scope of what this landscape was really like. Not to forget, this was in much more comfort than hiking with a big backpack. Filled with joy of the accomplishment we calmed down, had some snacks, and spent our final moments in nature. It ended our trip in the best way possible. We all had a blast, slowly being joined by more and more hikers who had the same sentiment!

Cutting through the rough, but stunning terrain, is an experience I would recommend to you all!

My favourite slow route is the Bernina Express, from Chur in Switzerland, up through the stunning Swiss Alps, and down - via a remarkable spiral viaduct - to Tirano, northern Italy. It's the perfect way to begin an Italian adventure, first stop Lake Como...

The route from Koblenz to Mainz is amazing! Especially small villages like Bacharach and the view on the Rijn is so beautiful and instantly make me feel relaxed.

A slow travel train route on my wishlist is the journey from Trondheim to Bodø in Norway. I love the idea of crossing quiet landscapes, fjords, and small coastal towns that you wouldn’t normally visit. Traveling by train feels more personal: you can watch everyday life pass by, stop in smaller places, and really connect with the atmosphere. It’s the kind of journey where the experience matters just as much as the destination.

I would say going back to greece and enjoying slow lire again !

Enjoyed a night train in summer in Finland, between Tornio and Helsinki, looking out the window, sleeping or not… Best night I had in a train. I will try it one day during the winter the same route of the “Santa Claus Express”.

I was on an Interrail tour through Germany, Denmark, Holland, and Belgium. In Copenhagen with an afternoon to spare, I decided to go to Malmo for fika (coffee and cake). On the way back I got on the front of the train and by coincidence the driver had left his cabin door open so I was chatting to him and looking over his shoulder as he drove. I documented a unique video through the driver’s window of us crossing the channel over the fantastic bridge. Not a long journey, but one I will not forget. (Of course not comparable with the many scenic routes I have travelled in Switzerland for my hiking activities).

Hoi Bart!

I hope to take a coastal journey in the near future, starting in Belgium and traveling along the northern coast before circling Southern Europe, with the Portuguese coastline and returning via Switzerland as the highlights of this trip! 😍

My fav is definitely Stockholm - Narvik with an amazing view point from the railways between Kiruna and Narvik! I highly recommend that route <3
