My favorite travel is the one I took already from the West of France (Bretagne) up to the beautiful Laponia. Sadly my last Train from Kiruna to Norway got cancelled because of the cold. It was supposed to be the most beautiful part of the trip and i'd like to try and do it again

My favourite train trip so far was a part between Frankfurt and Koblenz. Train will be moving along the river Rhein all the time and the views are gorgeaous.

The night train from Paris to Madrid was legendary. It had a large bar car where food was freshly prepared and it seemed like the whole world was sitting at the counter. The feeling was like instantly disconnecting from everyday life and entering a microcosm that you'd probably find nowhere else. The Spanish bar staff were serving drinks and freshly cooked food to the international guests talking about their travel experiences while you could see the French landscape passing by outside. A truly unique and unforgettable experience.

Unfortunately this night train was suspended in 2013 and later replaced by the high-speed daytime connections, so nowadays, to get a similar experience, you can take the Intercité de Nuit from Paris Austerlitz to Latour-de-Carol and continue on the next morning by regional train R3 to Barcelona. Sadly enough there is no bar on either of the two trains, but if you get to the station in Latour-de-Carol you can look for the bar right next to the building. The food is delicious and reasonably priced and it offers almost the same atmosphere as in the old night train. Plus, you get the stunning panoramic views of valleys, bridges and rocks as you travel through the Pyrenees.

Outside Europe I found Bishkek to Rybachye quite impressive. In Europe I’d probably have to pick Bar to Belgrade or the Bernina Express.

Bernina express

My favourite slow train route is Boden - Stockholm, Sweden as it is the route I take to start my adventures. It is a night train that lulls me into my dream trip every time. It gives me time to plan and meet new people in the couchette or restaurant cart to share stories with that I can use explore things I did not have on my radar beforehand.

I havent been traveling a lot with train yet in Europe, but hopefully more in future.

My favourite route was probably a train from Menton to Milan. I loved the small italian seaside towns and mountains and rustiness and beautifull little details <3

I was blown away by the bernina express route and would love to try the glacier express! I also really love the highland express train in Scotland, the views are stunning!🥰

My favorite train ride is from Stockholm to Narvik. It is beautiful in summer but also in winter

The route from Milan to Basel is one of a kind, I was in awe admiring every mountain and every lake. Strongly recommend!

I also loved the slow route from Barcelona to Madrid - long, yet beautiful. The ocre and reddish mountains make you dream about a peaceful and warm life :)

Also the view from the train from London to Edinburgh is unbeatable when you ride along the sea coast. Mesmerising!

My favorite train ride was the Bernina express, but taking the regional train instead of the panorama - you can open the windows and take postcard perfect pictures of the train snaking through beautiful mountains.

My favorite slow travel train route has been from Wien, Austria to Bukarest, Romania. On the way I could see beautiful landscapes - sometimes even snow. The tiny villages we drove by were even more interesting because you could really see the living circumstances of the people there. I saw multiple car wrecks in rivers and many other stuff.

I can recommend that route deeply.

The stop Jablanica on the border of Montenegro and Serbia is an adventurous start for a hike or mountainbike trip in full nature. Juni 2025 with my partner.

Through France 🇫🇷 Hendaye - Irun Spain 🇪🇸 - Marrakesh, Morocco 🇲🇦 , October 2024 cycling in the Atlas and back to Amsterdam from Sidi Kacem. Beautiful.

besides…

Sarajevo - Hadzic’s - Konjic - Jablanica - Ploce is a must ride for nature, curves, mountains and bridge lovers.

Living in Sweden, I’ve always looked across the border at Norway’s mountains, but I’ve never truly explored them. This summer, I’m finally making the journey! My Interrail plan connects the fjords of Stavanger, the iconic Flåm railway, and the peaks of Geilo and Åndalsnes, with a cultural stop in Trondheim. It’s time to finally discover my neighbor's incredible landscapes by rail!

The dream of experiencing the slow travel from Paris to Istanbul. Making stops in Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria... I would say that one of my favorite is the senic train than passes through the côte d'Azur in the south of France, from Marseille to Nice. 🤩🤩 Breathing landscapes along the coast line.

That's a difficult question as there are a lot of train journeys that are on my wishlist. One of the things I want to do next is to go from Germany through France and Spain (and maybe Portugal as well). That's mainly because I've heard a lot of great things about several places there and I also would love to visit friends in Spain and in Portugal. My dream is furthermore to be able to visit Scandinavia and go on the famous train route between Oslo and Bergen.

Hello, I want to go to Spain and Portugal. 😊 I‘ll be my first bigger journey by Train. 🥰

My most memorable travel experience was the train journey from Trondheim to Åre in Sweden. The landscapes were breathtaking (we even spotted moose along the way). And when we got stuck in Åre during a snowstorm, it only added to the adventure. After all, it’s not about the destination, but the journey that truly matters.

One of my favourite slow travel routes is in Scotland from Fort William to Mallaig, across the Glenfinnan Viaduct, before taking the ferry to Skype!

I think travelling on the Rhaetian Railway between Chur and Tirano is my favorite journey so far. You get to experience the marvel of amazing nature at the same time as you experience incredible engineering. That you were able to build that railway over a 100 years ago, at points over 2000 m above the ocean - that is truly mind blowing.

Favourite train track from Hamburg in Germany all the way to Bern in Switzerland. One train without changeovers. Totally different landscapes pass by, ending between the mountains. Bern and Hamburg are both beautiful cities to visit. Bern situated om a hill and Hamburg flat with all the water and ships.

I loved the train from Barcelona to Paris that I took last summer because of the chance to see hundreds of beautiful flamingoes across the wetland lagoons on either sides of the track. It was an incredible moment when I overheard a father pointing them out his young daughter, and looked up to see these majestic wild birds for the first time.
