My favourite route would definitely be going back to the UK and taking the Caledonian Sleeper to the Highlands, there’s no replacing that scenery.

I loved traveling by train along the Côte d’Azur with the views down to the sea.

My favourite journey so far was from Milan to Bern, a beautiful journey through the Swiss Alps. This summer I would like to go to Abisko (northern Sweden) to walk a part of the Kungsleden.

I love the most reaching the mountain trains in Switzerland. The route Interlaken - Lauterbrunnen - Wengen - Kleine Scheidegg - Grindelwald is fabulous.

Through the valleys of Switzerland, up and down to the various mountain peaks. Overall, Switzerland offers a range of railway lines that are found nowhere else.

Bernina Express springs to mind, though several Swiss journeys deserve a shout.

My favourite train journey is between Locarno and Domodossola with a fantastic scenery, even to swiss standards.

I would love to take the train from Trondheim to Bodo to explore Lofoten. One day!

I have always loved train travel and night trains.. As a student I savoured every moment of the train journey from Odessa to Sebastopol. I also traveled plenty in the Balkans. My absolute dream journey has me returned to my beloved Sarajevo after all these years. Amsterdam-Sarajevo seems like a good route to stare out of the window, read and write endlessly!

This is so interesting, thank you for sharing 🌻

My favourite train route is the mountain route passing by Breil Sur Roya, either coming from Nice or from Ventimiglia (even though I suspect the route from there is not active anymore). I adore it especially because of the neighbouring Vallée des merveilles, which is stunning, and it’s one of my favourite places on planet Earth.

I think I’m somewhere between dreaming and remembering thinking about this 😊 I’d love to take one of those Swiss trains through the Alps someday; just sitting by the window watching mountains and little villages go by sounds unreal! I would also love to take the Bucharest-Istanbul, since I went there but there was no direct at that time!

But one of my favorite journeys I’ve actually done was a short trip from Slovenia to Croatia that wasn’t famous but quiet, green and really beautiful. That’s what I love about slow trains, because the big dream routes are amazing, but sometimes the smaller, lesser-known ones are really magical.

Best journey is the Bernina pass from St Moritz to Tirano, stunning scenery and nowhere better to sit outside with a cold drink than the buffet at Alp Grüm

My slow train wish is to ride the Bernina Express as I have heard some great things about it and apparently the views are amazing

I am looking to travel from Brighton to Lisbon - via Paris, Barcelona and Madrid. Any tips welcome!

The route from Narbonne to Barcelona with view on the Pyrenees is great. On top a quick halt in Narbonne (for exemple when traveling from Paris to Barcelona) is worth it

My favourite train journey so far has been the Train from Munich to Venice. It is so scenic watching the mountains go and I can’t believe how fast you arrive in a completely  different climate

My favourite train route must be Oslo - Bergen. I'd love to experience Ljubljana- Munich.

London to Athens (return) in 1985 aged 19. My first inter-rail trip. Journeyed through UK/France/Italy/Greece/Yugoslavia/Switzerland. Sparked a love of travel. Still inter-railing 40+ years later. So many adventures. Thank you x
