I traveled all over Europe and experienced many well known scenic routes.

One route I never heard of but discovered by pure luck was when I was travelling from Rimini to Bologna in Italy and took a small detour from Faenza to Firence (Florence). Lovely ride through the Apennine mountains.

I loved a three week trip from the Netherlands to Norway (Bergen), Sweden (Stockholm, Rättvik) and Denmark (Copenhagen). It opened my eyes to what is all possible to reach by train.

and celebrating Midsommar in Sweden was just spectacular!

Barcelona to París, the landscape slowly changes, with some views on the Pyrenees , the sea and the Alps from far away.

I will take the panoramic route between Graz en Innsbruck, but it goes all the way to Zürich which I would love to do one day. Also I took the train between Salzburg and Graz in Austria and it was the most beautiful scenery I ever saw on a train!

The first and only train journey I’ve taken so far was last year, from Utrecht to Verona. It was also my very first solo trip, and I have to admit I felt quite nervous at the beginning.

I took a night train and ended up sharing my compartment with two amazing girls who immediately made me feel at safe, almost like I was at home. And then there was the magic of waking up to breathtaking landscapes… the snow-covered mountains of the Brenner Pass were simply unforgettable.

I love capturing memories through photography, and during those 12 hours I found endless inspiration. I managed to capture some truly beautiful moments that I still cherish.

As for my next journey, I’d love to travel all the way to Berlin, where a friend of mine will graduate this summer. It would be the perfect opportunity to reunite with some of my high school friends. Many of them now live abroad, so it would be incredibly special to visit them in their new homes Copenhagen, Munich, and Amsterdam and turn the journey itself into a meaningful adventure.

My dream route : the Bernina Express from Chur to Tirano, through the Swiss Alps, over dramatic viaducts, no tunnel hiding the view. Just pure mountain magic at 60km/h.

This one has been on my wishlist forever. An Interrail pass would finally be the excuse I need!

I never take train for traveling. I wish that for this summer with my sun. We will go from Belgium to  the Alhambra and this garden.

I absolutely loved exploring Spain by train entering via Perpignan, down to Sevilla via Barcelona, Madrid & Toledo then back out through San Sebastian (with stops in France before back to the UK).

Such a treat to experience the variety that Spain has to offer - with a particularly satisfying moment sipping an ice cold drink in the trains catering cart standing admiring the countryside between Barcelona & Madrid through the huge windows wondering why anybody would miss this!

I'd love to explore the French Riviera next

A long-cherished dream finally came true a few years ago: my exchange in the beautiful mountains of Switzerland. My Interrail trip from Utrecht to Davos was just the beginning of many magical train journeys through Switzerland. I would love to relive those core memories!

This really speaks to me. Last winter I took the sleeper train from the Netherlands to Austria for a ski trip, and it completely changed how I look at travel — waking up in the mountains instead of dealing with airports felt like part of the adventure itself. Would love to explore more of Europe this way and get inspired by Platform Europe

I always dreamt of taking the train between Chur and Tirano, seems like the most beautiful route ❤️

Next on my wish-list is the Glacier Express in Switzerland. I think the name says it all!

As soon as I had a bit of money saved, I started traveling wherever I could. I don’t have a favorite destination—I just want to experience as many different realities as possible; that’s what makes me feel alive. The train journey I love the most is the one that takes me into a life different from my usual routine.

night trains!
especially the one from Stockholm to Boden in Sweden, and the one from Rome to Palermo
nothing better than waking up and looking out to see the boreal forest (at night if you stay awake possibly northern lights!) and in Italy the deep blue Mediterranean sea right next to the train tracks ☺️

My favourite slow travel route would be Fort William to Mallaig in Scotland, because the line goes through beautiful scenery through the West Highlands, over the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, before finally running along the western Coast of Scotland to the harbour town of Mallaig. I have travelled on this line in July 2023, it was an outstanding adventure!

The train from Zurich to Milan was simply staggering: the mountains looming either side; the beautiful blue waters of the lakes; the solid swathe of green up and down the slopes.

One of those rare occasions where “just” staring out of the window is among the most fulfilling experiences you can have.

But thinking about the future, I’d like to push into the rich cultures and atmosphere of Eastern Europe, particularly the Balkans, and the Baltic countries. I’m not sure which one I’d start with but it would definitely be something beginning with B!

My favourite train journey was through the alps on the Bernina Exopress - though the line from Glasgow to Fort William is a close second.

My favourite route that i would love to go on alone or with a close friend it has got to be from Belgrade to Bar. I saw that this route is very popular in these comments but I don't care. I really want to see the landscape from Montenegro! and the tunnels and bridges!

My dream slow travel train route would be taking local trains from A Coruña all the way down to Faro. Travelling along the Atlantic on the edge of continental Europe and going for hikes along the way would be so lovely!

My next train journey on my whishlist is the one that will allow me to reach Kiruna, in northern Sweden, from where I can begin the KungsLeden trek!

My favourite interrail journey is from London to Darmstadt, near Frankfurt in Germany.

We’re heading off on our first-ever rail holiday—marking the kids' first big escape from the UK.

Our journey kicks off with the Harwich–Hook of Holland ferry, where we’ll catch a sleeper train from Rotterdam straight to Berlin. After a few days of city life, we’re heading south to Munich to (hopefully) soak up some riverside sunshine, followed by a stop in Füssen to see the castles. From there, we cross into Switzerland for stays in Lucerne and Interlaken before looping back through Basel. We’ll finish with a high-speed dash to Paris for a bit of Disney magic, before making a final beeline for London on the Eurostar—all wrapped up in three weeks using a 7-day Global Pass..

Let the grand adventure begin!
