I have not traveled much, but I liked the route from Oslo to stockholm, good space in the train, nice wiew, and beautiful location.

Would like to travel more in the future and explore several countries with my son.

We would like to take the train from Elverum in Norway to North of Italy, because of the beautiful destinations along the way and the nice wiew.

My favourite slow travel route is the night train from Stockholm to Abisko. Its an amazing feeling to wake up in a bunk bed and watch the Lapland landscape passing by in the sunrise.

We loved exploring France from Lille to Rouen, Quimper and Cognac to St Emilion, Sarlat la Candela and Perigoeur, Toulouse and Occataine. The Ceves train route from Nimes to Clermant Ferrand was especially scenic. Planning to travel the northern Spain route to Ana Coruna and on to Potugal in September!

My favourite journey so far was from Norway to Sweden. The first part from Tromso to Narvik by bus and then from Narvik to Kiruna by train. The views of the fjords, the mountains, the lake, the snow.. it's amazing! 🚞

On my wishlist is a slow journey through the UK and Scotland.🤩

My favourite slow travel train route in Europe is the route from Narvik to Stockholm. I’ve taken this long overnight route numerous times, both summer and winter - and I always enjoy the amazing views, meeting new interesting people, and the contemplation the journey creates room for. It will always be a favorite, and especially the mountainous part from Narvik to Kiruna. 🇳🇴🇸🇪

I loved to travel slowly - because of many stops in the way from Germany to United Kingdom- we chose bath as final destination!
we started in bale/freuiburg and had breakfast in Strasbourg, took a train to Paris and had lunch in Paris. Afterwards we went by train to London for an afternoon tea and had dinner and a nice bath in Bath! All in one day. Loved it.

I dream about travelling by train from the wintery north of Sweden to Cappadocia in eastern Turkey. (Yes, it’s possible).

Imagine all the epic scenery you would pass. And the destination itself looks amazing.

Oslo to Bodoe for the northern lights train from narvik

the train journey that's next on my wishlist is the Transsiberian – because it would be nice to see the cold Russia from a (hopefully) warm train :)

My most memorable journey is the slow train between Barcelona and Madrid with splendid views.

I love taking local trains along the Italian and French Rivieras because you get to slowly watch the coastal scenery roll by and witness the architectural styles shift as you approach and then cross the border from one country into the next :)

I’m looking forward to my next trip to Norway via Berlin - Sweden - Kiruna - Abisko - Narvik Lofoten - Hurtigruten to Bergen - train to Oslo - back to Malmö - Berlin

A truly memorable train journey was the one from Badajoz (Spain) to Entroncamento (Portugal). It was a diesel train with only two carriages that drove through the hills, which were covered in cork trees as far as the eye could see. Unfortunately, the train on the way back was delayed, leaving me stranded in Badajoz, as it was the last train of the day. I only made it to Madrid that night thanks to a full BlaBlaCar, with some people who were also stranded there.

From Viareggio via Genoa and Milano to Venice! This route is clearly the best because it lets you start by sunbathing in Viareggio, survive in Genoa, panic-buy clothes in Milan, and finally take pictures at the Venetian canals, all while avoiding the embarrassment of driving in Italy 🤣

From Grenoble to Gap, slowly going into the alps, as it was the start of my ESC voluntary period and I felt highly in the moment

The sleeper train from Munich to Bologna was my first experience. I'd like to relive this journey this summer!

I enjoyed doing a “budget” Orient Express, on a couchette sleeper from Paris to Venice, with my family & a comprehensive picnic sourced from the supermarket. Peeping around the blinds to see lakes & mountains passing by, during the night. Arriving along the causeway in to Venice.

One of my favourite slow travel journeys has to be taking the train from Stockholm all the way to Rome. I loved how the landscapes and cultures gradually changed as I passed through multiple countries, it really made the journey feel just as meaningful as the destination.

A highlight was definitely the stretch between Nice and Genoa, where the train hugs the coastline with incredible views of the Mediterranean. And of course, there’s something poetic about it all, after crossing so much of Europe by rail, you finally arrive in Rome… because, as they say, all roads lead to Rome! 🌟

Ooof, tough to choose a favourite train route! I really liked going by train in the South of Italy from Bari to Lecce, because the train goes right next to the sea. Another favourite is accros the alpes from Chur in Switzerland to Tirano in Italy in the Bernina Express, where you pass the Landwasserviaduct, and the Brusio spiral viaduct.
Next trip is not planned yet. I'd like to go to Spain and Portugal by train, or maybe Greece. Or outside of Europe I would really like to take the train in South America or in Asia.

"Hands down the best train route we’ve taken so far: from Austria through Slovenia to Croatia. It felt like stepping back in time, especially in Croatia where the station master still uses a manual handwheel to operate the signals. The scenery near the Italian border and Nova Gorica is absolutely stunning. Pure nostalgia on tracks!"

The train journey I want to take is the Luzern–Interlaken Express in Switzerland because of its beautiful views of the mountains. 🏔️🚞🙂
